In the heart of our cultural quarter is the award-winning Towner gallery home
to a mix of traditional and cutting edge contemporary art. Towner’s renowned
collection of over 4,500 works features artists such as David Bomberg and
includes the largest body of work by Eric Ravilious. Take a Collection Store
Tour or treat yourself in the café with inspiring views over the South Downs.

drama and dance at the cutting edge Birley Centre. Or step into our creative
world at the Devonshire Collective, a creative and cultural hub, spanning
five locations in Seaside Road, with studios, makerspaces, workshops,

Culture by the sea
Cycle or walk the Coastal Culture Trail which joins Towner in
Eastbourne with the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill and the Jerwood
Gallery in Hastings. Connected by 18 miles of stunning coastline,
there are four bespoke trails taking you through the Sussex
coastline and countryside that has inspired some
of Britain’s most celebrated artists.
Ravilious & Co:
The Pattern of Friendship is a major exhibition of
the artist and designer Eric Ravilious (1903-1942)
coinciding with the 75th anniversary of his death.
Showing key works and works never exhibited before.
