The Lincoln High School Senior A Boys Volleyball team will be
attending the New Zealand Secondary Schools volleyball tournament in
Palmerston North from the 18th to the 24th of March.
This year’s team is full of youthful exuberance with a sprinkling of experience, which
bodes for an exciting tournament promising massive growth. With the help and
guidance of ex-student Pesa Morrison, the boys have been training consistently twice a
week since the start of the school year and have made some excellent progress in both
their ability and coming together as a tight team.
The team competes in the Canterbury Volleyball Monday night competition and have
recently represented Lincoln High School at both the South Island and Canterbury
championships, in which they have shown some impressive improvement as well as
achieving some pleasing results.
In Palmerston North Lincoln High School will be competing with over 180 other teams
and will be looking to continue the schools proud history of performing well at New
Zealand’s largest secondary schools sporting event. For three of the boys (Carlito
Shalfoon, Ben Sisson and Raymond Lo) this will be their last opportunity to participate
at the national tournament and is something they have been building and training for
over the past 5 years. For the other seven players (Ryan Vincent, Mark Turner, Matt
Bowen, Duncan Fulton, Jonathon Allan, Callum Vallance and Ben Hooper) this will be
no doubt will be a chance for them to learn what it takes to compete with the best,
whilst also striving to send the older boys off on a positive and winning note.
The players and management are extremely grateful for the assistance of all sponsors
and supporters who have supported them financially in their endeavours, without their
help, getting to the tournament would not be possible.
