The Hoogwaardig Openbaar Vervoerbaan Huizingalaan
is part of the HOV line that will run from WC Woensel to
Ekkersrijt and from WC Woensel to Eindhoven Airport.
The Huizingalaan needs maintenance. Because the
Huizingalaan is part of the HOV network, the construction
of separate bus lanes is part of the design. In 2015, we
constructed the first part of the concrete bus lane (HOV).
The work for the second part started in late April 2016,
and the project was completed in early 2017.
In 2015, a roundabout was built at the Turnhoutsebaan
near Gorps Baantje and the Nieuwkerksbaantje. The
four-month process was carried out to improve traffic
safety and make the nature areas south of Goirle and Riel
accessible.
For the improvement of traffic safety, a second
roundabout was also constructed near the Poppelseweg
in 2017. To give the traffic between Tilburg and Poppel
access at all times, a separate lane was built next to the
Turnhoutsebaan. This assured the accessibility in an
excellent way. The Turnhoutsebaan, the former N630
between Tilburg and Poppel, was transferred to the
municipality of Goirle by the province of North Brabant in
2009, with the task of making this road Sustainable and
Safe by 2020.
