HOW WE GROW
GCG uses only organic, OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute)
approved products for fertility and pest management at all farming
sites, with a preventative farming method that is rooted in
optimizing plant health before introducing any products. This
organic crop protection program uses diverse approaches to
controlling insects and disease to ensure limited impact on
non-target species (eg. honeybees), while promoting crop fitness.
GCG also provides a trained and certified in-house food safety
representative with project oversight (GAP, ServSafe & FSMA) to
support and ensure high standards are consistently met, whether
for on-site food production or any other use of your crop.
“What’s made the
garden so great for us is
that the farmers are there
to do it all, and we can
engage with whatever free
time we have available,
which suits our business.
It’s made us think more
carefully about our menu
planning, and our staff
are always excited to see
what’s coming out of the
garden each week.”
—GCG Restaurant client
GCG uses all organic methods
and products for fertility and
pest management. Our method
is rooted in prevention and
optimizing plant health before
introducing any products.

PROGRAMMING AND ENGAGEMENT
CORPORATE WELLNESS
Our corporate garden education program engages employees in the
process of growing produce, empowering them to eat healthier and apply
their newly found skills learned at work at home and in their communities.
The produce grown can be donated to food rescue partners, distributed
among the volunteers, incorporated into the company cafe/cafeteria, or
any combination of the three.
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
GCG garden and farm spaces offer property tenants and residents an
opportunity to grow and harvest a bountiful selection of organic produce
on-site, providing an eco-minded amenity and a living example of your
property’s committment to sustainability. Programming and engagement
can be built into existing events calendar to best suit the needs of your
constituents, and can be designed to engage any age group.
SENIOR LIVING
Create a vibrant community garden for your elder care or healthcare
facility with help from GCG’s professional team of Farmers, dedicated to
cultivating excitement around growing food and a healthy lifestyle. During
weekly or bi-weekly visits from our Farmers, participants learn the skills
and knowledge needed to have a successful vegetable garden.
We recommend that senior living communities install adaptive raised
beds of varying heights, to allow for easier access
COURSES, WORKSHOPS
AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
Whether new to urban farming/gardening or a seasoned pro, GCG’s team
of professionals have a wealth of knowledge to share, gathered from years
of experience in the field. GCG is happy to lead community-based
workshops, contribute to courses, and speak at events of any scale!

FOR ALL AGES
“It’s great to have the
opportunity to come
outside and spend an hour
each week to learn, see
new growth, touch dirt,
and see the wonder of
nature. The experience
relaxes me during the day
– it’s a must have in every
office space.”
GIVING BACK
Many clients with programming and
engagement elect to donate a portion,
or all, of the produce grown to local food
rescue organizations, such as the Bostonbased
Lovin’ Spoonfuls.

ON-SITE FOOD PRODUCTION
HYPER-LOCAL PRODUCE
GCG maintains production-level farms for restaurants, grocers, and
food services using only organic methods. Supply your restaurant,
cafe or hotel with fresh produce organically grown on site in
containers, raised beds or a full roof top farm feet from your
establishment’s kitchen.
Growing on site ensures quality and a fresh supply of typically
high-priced herbs and unavailable heirloom plant varieties. Urban
farms and gardens also draw the community, beautify barren
spaces, and demonstrate your company’s commitment to
sourcing the finest ingredients possible. Season extension
technologies enable year-round growing!
WHOLE FOODS MARKET’S intensive roof
top farm features 4,600 sq ft growing space
and an annual yield in 2017 of 6,644 pounds
“The produce, flowers and herbs sell
as quickly as they are harvested - it
doesn’t get any fresher than when it
comes right from our own roof.”
—Bill Ford, Whole Foods Store Team Leader
GCG is proudly working with the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park
GARDEN EDUCATION
YES, WE CAN HAVE CLASS OUTSIDE!
Inspire the next generation of environmental stewards by transforming
unused space into an outdoor classroom.
The GCG garden education program is a youth-driven and interdisciplinary experience
incorporating science, language arts, art, math, and social studies into place-based learning.
Hands-on garden programming increases the amount and variety of produce consumed by
children and supports attentiveness and performance in the classroom.
Students of all ages gain an understanding of basic vegetable gardening, having seen
the seeds they have sown grow into the food they eat. Students are challenged to think
critically about environmental food issues, nutrition, and their own actions, behaviors,
and consumption patterns. The program is a fun and engaging environment that
increases students’ confidence and ability to make a difference in the world.
Local school gardens receive funding through private and corporate grants
and sponsorhips - consider supporting your local school!
food, while revitalizing city landscapes and inspiring self-sufficiency.
THE GCG VISION
GCG envisions a world where rooftops and vacant lots become
common and productive places to grow food – an agricultural
revolution for a healthier nation. People from all walks of life,
living in urban areas, will have access to a network of sustainable
farms, fueling personal and environmental health, and local
food sustainability.
BUSINESS AS A FORCE OF GOOD
Green City Growers became a Certified B Corporation in 2014, and
has since received “Best for the Environment” and “Best for the
World Overall” awards. We are proud to be recognized as a leader
in a growing community of more than 2,100 Certified B Corps from
50 countries and over 130 industries working together toward
1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
Growing food has many health and environmental benefits, but
the tools and knowledge to do so successfully are limited.
Education and engagement around gardening can make a
significant difference in an individual’s understanding of their
health and how it relates to food. By providing the support
businesses and homeowners need to grow-their own, GCG
significantly impacts obesity rates, food access issues, and the
environment.
