HASTINGS ART DECO EVENTS Dedicated to the rich and vibrant Art Deco heritage of Hastings, a series of events will be featured as part of the 30th anniversary of the festival. The Art Deco Trust acknowledges the generous support from the Hastings District Council and Hastings City Business Association. ART DECO WALK OF THE HASTINGS CBD Join Hawke’s Bay historian and author Michael Fowler for a guided Art Deco tour around the Hastings CBD. His tour views some spiffing examples of Art Deco buildings that Hastings built after the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake. Included as part of the tour are dramatic stories of how the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake affected Hastings - including some remaining earthquake scars of the event. The tour takes around 70 minutes. (Two of his Art Deco and earthquake books are available for purchase after the tour for a special tour price of $15 for both books.) It is a veritable Art Deco feast. A combination of walking and transportation around Hastings to view Art Deco and other interesting buildings. To finish off the tour, we take in a sumptuous high tea for lunch hosted by Michael. The tour takes around four hours including lunch and a free tour book. For five magical days each<br />

February, Hawke's Bay is transported<br />

back into the Art Deco era of the 1920s<br />

and 30s. Each year we celebrate and<br />

commemorate our unique heritage and<br />

history, with an array of music, fashion,<br />

arts, entertainment, cars, planes, trains<br />

and an assortment of goodies.<br />

In 2018 we celebrate 30 years of<br />
