gion for major maintenance repair and overhaul<br />
services (MRO) for the Honeywell TFE731 family<br />
of turbofan engines. The new agreement authorizes<br />
StandardAero as the only maintenance facility,<br />
located in the EMEAI region, licensed to perform<br />
both Core Zone Inspections (CZIs) and MSP<br />
covered Major Periodic Inspections (MPIs). The<br />
authorization includes non-MSP covered engine<br />
maintenance as well. Additionally, StandardAero<br />
is authorized to perform line level maintenance<br />
on the 36-series APUs for business aviation aircraft<br />
operators in the EMEAI region. The authorization,<br />
effective January 1, <strong>2018</strong>, is a long-term<br />
agreement whereby StandardAero anticipates<br />
supporting more than 1,500 MPI & CZI engine<br />
events over the life of the contract. The establishment<br />
of a Europe-based TFE731 shop allows<br />
StandardAero to expand on its strong US-based<br />
network of MRO facilities. After a thorough program<br />
evaluation, StandardAero will perform<br />
TFE731 MPI and CZI engine events for EMEAI operators<br />
at the company’s Fleetlands, U.K. facility.<br />
As part of the agreement, StandardAero will also<br />
stand up Europe-based Mobile Service Teams to<br />
provide on-site service to support approximately<br />
600 operators in the region.<br />
AAR signs long-term component repair<br />
contract with Russia’s Utair<br />
AAR, a worldwide provider of aviation services<br />
to commercial airlines and governments, has announced<br />
a long-term agreement between AAR<br />
Aircraft Component Repair – Amsterdam and<br />
the Russian airline, Utair Aviation. Under the<br />
eight-year deal, AAR provides component repair<br />
and exchange for Utair’s B737 and ATR fleets,<br />
as well as reliability engineering support to improve<br />
on-wing component reliability.<br />
SR Technics and Ural Airlines sign a longterm<br />
contract<br />
SR Technics is extending the engine maintenance<br />
partnership with Ural Airlines for another six<br />
years, covering the airline’s CFM56-5B fleet. The<br />
new contract was signed in December 2017, and<br />

Airbus’ first A321LR (Long Range), MSN7877, has accomplished its maiden flight<br />
services on the carrier’s engines are set to begin<br />
in the second quarter of <strong>2018</strong>. All work will be<br />
done at the SR Technics facilities in Zurich. “SR<br />
Technics’ expertise, high-quality services and efficient<br />
approach for our CFM56-5B fleet is much<br />
appreciated and we are pleased to expand our<br />
Engine Service business further,” said Andrey<br />
Melnikov, Head of Budget Planning and Material<br />

Airbus’ first A321LR (Long Range), MSN7877, has accomplished its maiden flight following a<br />
mission lasting 2 hours and 36 minutes. The aircraft, powered by CFM Leap-1A engines, is now<br />
set to undergo a nearly 100-hour flight test program, including trans-Atlantic missions, for<br />
EASA and FAA Type Certification in Q2 <strong>2018</strong>. Entry into service is targeted for Q4 <strong>2018</strong>. During<br />
the flight, the crew tested the aircraft’s flight controls, engines and main systems including<br />
flight envelope protections, both at high and low speed. The A321LR features a new door<br />
configuration, enabling its operators to accommodate up to 240 passengers in Airbus’ widest<br />
Single Aisle fuselage in the sky. The new Airspace by Airbus cabin available on the A320 Family<br />
additionally enhances the passengers’ unrivalled travel experience. With further options,<br />
combining an increased Maximum Take Off Weight (MTOW) of 97 tons and a third Additional<br />
Centre Fuel Tank (ACT), the aircraft’s range extends to 4000nm (7400 km), allowing airlines to<br />
tap into new market opportunities.<br />
LHT engine overhaul facility in Hamburg<br />
invests in future technologies and growth<br />
The Engine Services division of Lufthansa Technik<br />
AG in Hamburg is gearing up for the future. With<br />
the simultaneous opening of a new competence<br />
center for engine case repair and an X-ray center<br />
for engine components of all different sizes,<br />
Lufthansa Technik is preparing for future engine<br />
types and a growing business in engine maintenance.<br />
The company invested around €7 million
