THE HOME SHOW
The Home Show is scheduled for February 9, 10, and 11,
2018 at the Coralville Marriott and Convention Center. The
Home Builders Association is proud to partner with Collins
Community Credit Union and Lepic-Kroeger REALTORS®
who share a common desire to help market and sell The
Home Show. The renewed interest in the event, additional
marketing support from our two major local sponsors and
an increased marketing budget, the HBA is committed to
the success of this show. Our combined marketing efforts
will help build a home show that will be recognized as one
of the best in eastern Iowa.

HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION
OF IOWA CITY VOCATIONAL
TRAINING COUNCIL
The council has been established as an Iowa non-profit
corporation for the purposes of assisting area schools in
the operation of its vocational home building program.
The program was restructured with Kirkwood Community
College as a construction academy and students receive
college credit for related courses. The VTC sponsored a
Construction Camp for middle school students during the
summer of 2016 and was instrumental in bringing an
Intro to ACE class to City High.
We recognize and award schools that are supporting our
effort to educate students about potential careers in the
building industry.
RECOGNITION OF MEMBERS
Yearly, the Association awards a Builder of the Year,
Associate of the Year and Remodeler of the Year to
members. The Association also recognizes members that
have made significant contributions to the association at
their Annual Meeting. SPIKE awards are given yearly.

promotes its members. It is also used as a resource for the
general public to obtain information on the Association
and the industry. Our site has shown strong growth over
the years especially during the Parade of Homes and
Home Show.
An alphabetical list, trade listing of members, current and
past parade homes, remodeling projects, features stories
on the industry and links to city and member sites are
some of the highlights. You also have direct access to the
National Association of Home Builders website. Try the
member’s only site at www.nahb.org.
Watch for Parade information, upcoming events, educational
opportunities and much more. Contact the Gazette about
placing your ads online or a direct link to your site.
PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
The Association continues to publish and distribute Builder
News in the Corridor Business Journal. The circulation
will include HBA members and an additional 4,500
CBJ subscribers. The newsletter gives you a snapshot of
association activities, programs and events. The publication
is supported by members advertising their business. HBA
encourages “Doing Business with a Member.”
The Association covers Iowa, Johnson, Washington and Cedar
Counties. Members are being recruited from these locations.
Our communities are growing around us, and we believe it is
important to offer our expertise to smaller communities.
Iowa City/Johnson County continues to rank in the Top 10
Emerging Housing Markets nationally. The rankings are
based on employment growth, house price appreciation,
and single-family housing permit growth.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
The association gives scholarships to students pursuing
a career in the building industry through the Ben Moore
Memorial Endowed Scholarship established with Kirkwood
Community College. The Pat (Babe) Moore Jr. and the Earl
Yoder Endowed Scholarships will be established in 2018.
