THE GREATER IOWA CITY AREA
HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION
MISSION STATEMENT
Founded in 1960 as a non-profit organization, the Greater
Iowa City Area Home Builders Association represents
the building industry professionals in the Cedar, Iowa,
Johnson and Washington Counties. Our purpose is to
advance the industry through:
• Providing members and consumer education;
• Participating in the development of public policy;
• Providing valued member services;
• Offering networking opportunities;
• Promoting home ownership.
We seek to be leaders in the community to ensure housing
quality and affordability through the involvement of our
members. By focusing on the future, we will continue
to meet the changing needs of our members and
communities in which we live.
The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association is
affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Iowa and
the National Association of Home Builders.
CODE OF ETHICS
The Active Members of this Association shall be limited
to those persons and firms who shall subscribe to the
following Code of Ethics:
[A] Members of The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders
Association believe and affirm that:
[1] Home ownership can and should be within the reach of
every American family.
[2] Homes should be well designed, well-constructed and well
located in active communities, with educational, recreational,
religious and shopping facilities accessible to all.
[3] Homes should be built under the free American
enterprise system.
[B] To achieve the goals, we pledge allegiance to the
following principles and policies:
[1] Our paramount responsibility is to our customers, our
community and our country.
[2] Honesty is our guiding business policy.
[3] High standards of health, safety and sanitation shall be
built into every home.
[4] Members shall deal fairly with their respective
employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
[5] As members of a progressive industry, we encourage
research to develop new materials, new building techniques,
new building equipment and improved methods of home
financing, to the end that every home purchaser may get the
greatest value possible for every dollar.
[6] All sound legislative proposals affecting our industry
and the people we serve shall have our informed and
vigorous support.
[7] We hold hallowed the free enterprise system and
the American Way of Life. We pledge our support to our
associates, our local, state and national associations and
all related industries concerned with the preservation of
legitimate rights and freedoms.
[C] We assume these responsibilities freely and solemnly,
mindful that they are part of our obligation as members
of The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association.
REMODELERS COUNCIL’S
CODE OF ETHICS
As an NAHB Remodelers Council member in good
standing, I fully accept the responsibilities and obligations
inherent in providing professional services and hereby
agree to support and abide by the following standards:
I PLEDGE TO:
CONDUCT our business operations in a manner that will
reflect credit upon my company, the Remodelers Council
and the remodeling industry.
COMPLY both in spirit and letter with rules and
regulations prescribed by laws and government agencies
for the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
DESCRIBE accurately and honestly the price, materials
and standards of workmanship used in our jobs.
USE only materials and products equal to or exceeding the
quality specified in the contract.
START the construction process as soon as feasible upon
award of the contract, and proceed diligently to completion
of the project without unnecessary delays.
COOPERATE with the Remodelers Council in responding to
complaints against my company or other council members.
