THE GREATER IOWA CITY AREA<br />

HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION<br />

MISSION STATEMENT<br />

Founded in 1960 as a non-profit organization, the Greater<br />

Iowa City Area Home Builders Association represents<br />

the building industry professionals in the Cedar, Iowa,<br />

Johnson and Washington Counties. Our purpose is to<br />

advance the industry through:<br />

• Providing members and consumer education;<br />

• Participating in the development of public policy;<br />

• Providing valued member services;<br />

• Offering networking opportunities;<br />

• Promoting home ownership.<br />

We seek to be leaders in the community to ensure housing<br />

quality and affordability through the involvement of our<br />

members. By focusing on the future, we will continue<br />

to meet the changing needs of our members and<br />

communities in which we live.<br />

The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association is<br />

affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Iowa and<br />

the National Association of Home Builders.<br />

CODE OF ETH<strong>IC</strong>S<br />

The Active Members of this Association shall be limited<br />

to those persons and firms who shall subscribe to the<br />

following Code of Ethics:<br />

[A] Members of The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders<br />

Association believe and affirm that:<br />

[1] Home ownership can and should be within the reach of<br />

every American family.<br />

[2] Homes should be well designed, well-constructed and well<br />

located in active communities, with educational, recreational,<br />

religious and shopping facilities accessible to all.<br />

[3] Homes should be built under the free American<br />

enterprise system.<br />

[B] To achieve the goals, we pledge allegiance to the<br />

following principles and policies:<br />

[1] Our paramount responsibility is to our customers, our<br />

community and our country.<br />

[2] Honesty is our guiding business policy.<br />

[3] High standards of health, safety and sanitation shall be<br />

built into every home.<br />

[4] Members shall deal fairly with their respective<br />

employees, subcontractors and suppliers.<br />

[5] As members of a progressive industry, we encourage<br />

research to develop new materials, new building techniques,<br />

new building equipment and improved methods of home<br />

financing, to the end that every home purchaser may get the<br />

greatest value possible for every dollar.<br />

[6] All sound legislative proposals affecting our industry<br />

and the people we serve shall have our informed and<br />

vigorous support.<br />

[7] We hold hallowed the free enterprise system and<br />

the American Way of Life. We pledge our support to our<br />

associates, our local, state and national associations and<br />

all related industries concerned with the preservation of<br />

legitimate rights and freedoms.<br />

[C] We assume these responsibilities freely and solemnly,<br />

mindful that they are part of our obligation as members<br />

of The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association.<br />

REMODELERS COUNCIL’S<br />

CODE OF ETH<strong>IC</strong>S<br />

As an NAHB Remodelers Council member in good<br />

standing, I fully accept the responsibilities and obligations<br />

inherent in providing professional services and hereby<br />

agree to support and abide by the following standards:<br />

I PLEDGE TO:<br />

CONDUCT our business operations in a manner that will<br />

reflect credit upon my company, the Remodelers Council<br />

and the remodeling industry.<br />

COMPLY both in spirit and letter with rules and<br />

regulations prescribed by laws and government agencies<br />

for the health, safety, and welfare of the community.<br />

DESCRIBE accurately and honestly the price, materials<br />

and standards of workmanship used in our jobs.<br />

USE only materials and products equal to or exceeding the<br />

quality specified in the contract.<br />

START the construction process as soon as feasible upon<br />

award of the contract, and proceed diligently to completion<br />

of the project without unnecessary delays.<br />

COOPERATE with the Remodelers Council in responding to<br />

complaints against my company or other council members.<br />
