Surface preparation<br />

Well prepared and cleansed surface is the basic condition for execution of anti-corrosive protection. Regardless of the fact that<br />

the most convenient system of coating and that the protection has been performed in compliance with the prescribed manner of<br />

application, the lifetime thereof will depend primarily on the quality executed preparation of the surface. Preparation of the surface<br />

is performed applying various mechanical and chemical procedures. Wet or dry sand-blasting provides for optimum results in<br />

terms of quality of cleansed area. Quartz sand or iron granules are used as the abrasive.<br />

Sand-blasting is more expensive in comparison with other preparation procedures, however, there is a series of advantages thereof:<br />

• it is performed more rapidly<br />

• it provides for the base of uniform quality<br />

• it provides for the applied coating system an average of three times longer life of exploitation in relation to the preparation made<br />

by means of manual cleaning, etc.<br />

JADRAN sand- blasting plant is equipped with mobile generating units and is fully capable of performing sand-blasting<br />

activities on the site itself.<br />

Fire protection of cables and metal surfaces<br />

Steel protection<br />

At temperatures between 500°C and 600°C, the steel looses own static strength and is exposed to to plastic deformations.<br />

The above means that, in addition to instant danger from fire, there is an indirect danger of possible loosening of steel structure<br />

under the impact of high temperatures. All that may cause, in certain cases, demolition of roof parts of industrial halls<br />

and other facilities.<br />

By applying the quality fire prevention coatings, JADRAN d.o.o. successfully protects the steel structures from consequences<br />

caused by fire. The mechanism of protective action of fire prevention coatings at direct impact of flame and<br />

high temperatures is based on building of thermo-insulation foam of microporous structure. The increased heat of<br />

the surrounding area causes swelling of the protective layer. In such way, the fire fighting coating of total thickness<br />

of dry film amounting to 1.2-1.3 mm, becomes by swelling the protective thermal insulation layer up to<br />

several centimeters thick.<br />

Cable protection<br />

With the aim of preventing the spreading of possible fire breaks, JADRAN d.o.o. performs fire prevention<br />

alongside the entire length of horizontal and vertical cable routes, as follows:<br />

• protection of cables and cable bundles using special fire coats which, in case of fire, slow<br />

down the destruction of cable shield thus extending the time of cable functionality.<br />

• protection of fire movable and fixed partitions and penetrations therein in the cable<br />

tunnels and passages, by combination of special fire fighting and heat insulating<br />

materials.<br />

• time stability of the applied fire system corresponds to the cable lifetime.<br />

DEMOLITION OF WALLS AND REMOVAL OF DEBRIS<br />

Demolition of walls and removal of debris most often represent the first steps of renovation and adaptation of any living or<br />

business premises.<br />

Due to the specific nature of this job, the most important thing is to maximize the professional approach to the work and<br />

ensure appropriate safety measures. These measures relate to safety at work and protection of other buildings or parts of<br />

buildings that should not be demolished. It is also important to use the appropriate equipment or tools, and that the workers<br />

are appropriately trained for this kind of work. After the demolition of walls, there is a large quantity of debris that needs to<br />

be removed in order to continue the work.<br />

PLASTER WORKS<br />

Dry lining systems are more and more used in renovation and construction of residential and commercial<br />

buildings. Unlike the old models of construction, these construction systems are very flexible and allow<br />

a multiple use. We can freely say that there are no limits in use of gypsum, and through placement of<br />

plaster slabs and execution of gypsum works one may create any interior one imagines. A big possibility<br />

for combining forms and types of gypsum elements ensures that all wishes and ideas of an<br />

employer or an architect may come true. Therefore, we can freely say that gypsum and gypsum<br />

works make the interior become just what we imagined.<br />

The gypsum works that can be performed within the interior renovation or construction<br />

PAINTING IN INTERIOR DESIGN<br />

Surface preparation for painting, which includes wall smoothing, the most common and the most comprehensive action, followed<br />

by the base coating, filling of some smaller holes, etc.<br />

A surface painting represents the final action and it may be performed by use of a wide range of paints in terms of selection of<br />

the paint and quality of the paint. The quality determines the type of paint to be used (semi-dispersive, dispersive, acrylic) and<br />

the manufacturer. The main difference in quality is in color shades that we get - with semi-dispersive paint we cannot get bright<br />

(strong) tones, while by use of acrylic paint, all color tones may be obtained. Also, the paints differ from the aspect of wearing<br />

resistance, acrylic paint is more durable and washable (it can be cleaned by a wet cloth without any damage).<br />

INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE<br />

Installation and construction of water supply system and sewerage in the house or apartment<br />

is a very important element within the adaptation and renovation of space. In order to<br />

have the water supply and take off system (i.e. the system of water and sewerage pipes)<br />

properly established, it is necessary to know what are the sanitary wares to be used<br />

in a certain space.<br />

LAYING CERAMIC TILES<br />

Laying ceramic tiles in a room has two basic purposes. The first relates to convenience of ceramic tiles in terms of easy maintenance,<br />

water resistance, etc., and the other to aesthetic features.<br />

Tiles may be laid in two manners. The first method is to set the tile into the adhesive, and the second is to lay tiles onto the<br />

material. As for the quality and durability, both methods are equally good. The main differences are in the method of work,<br />

type of tiles to be installed and preparation of the surface. Laying tiles onto the adhesive has a wider use and therefore is<br />

recently more frequently used compared to laying tiles onto the material.<br />

It need not always be a new building. Often a new building shell is sufficient to adapt a structure to the current demands of air conditioning,<br />

sound insulation, fire protection or appearance. This works even with on-going use - if you ask us.<br />

Original Historic Storefront (OHS) Guidelines<br />

An OHS is part of a commercial building built before 1940 with its original storefront and distinctive features still intact or largely<br />

intact. When renovating an OHS:<br />

• Repair structural/functional parts of façade.<br />

• Retain and restore historic details of building.<br />

• Renovate to accommodate new use while maintaining original storefront.<br />

Altered Historic Storefront (AHS) Guidelines<br />

An AHS is part of a commercial building built before 1940 with its distinctive features dramatically altered or completely missing.<br />

When renovating an AHS, three approaches apply:<br />

• Partially or fully reconstruct the original storefront (if the original appearance of the storefront is documented).<br />

• Construct a new storefront that is compatible with the design of the building.<br />

• Retain the current storefront if it is a high-quality alteration of the original that has attained historical signiicance of its own.<br />

Non-Historic Storefront (NHS) Guidelines<br />

An NHS is part of a commercial building built after 1940. When renovating an NHS, two approaches apply:<br />

• Repair the existing storefront to match its present appearance if it is compatible with the commercial district and<br />

is of high-quality design and materials.<br />

• Construct a new storefront according to the storefront design guidelines, remaining attentive to the historic<br />

architectural patterns within the business district and striving to be consistent with neighboring<br />

historic storefronts.<br />

Building Without a Storefront (BWS) Guidelines<br />

A BWS is a building not designed or originally intended for storefront commercial use (such as<br />

a residence, a garage, etc.), it may be treated in either of two ways:<br />

• If the building is historically important, if it has a distinct historical character, or if it is of<br />

a high architectural quality, it should be renovated with as few changes to the exterior<br />

as possible to accommodate the new use; a full storefront should not necessarily<br />

be inserted into the façade.<br />

• If the building does not have a distinct historical character or if it is of low<br />

architectural quality, it may be altered more dramatically. If possible, a full<br />

storefront should be inserted into the façade.<br />
