TMN MAGAZINE/JANUARY 2017
Another year is upon us, and as I sit
here in the tail end of 2017 writing this
note, I’m flabbergasted to be saying,
Happy New Year, 2018! It’s not as if it
snuck up on me; I’ve been working on
story ideas for the coming year for
months and I own a calendar.
When the team got together to talk
about the coming year, one theme stood
out from all the others. This year, we
will focus our content on MUSIC.
HIGHLIGHTS IN THIS ISSUE
Our definitions of what entertainment
looks and sounds and feels like have
been particular to each of us, of course,
but the magazine itself has always been
consistent in its mission: to find and
reveal and present best of the best in all
its forms.
We future a lot of truly amazing and

FABIAN SECON DEBUTS NEW
TRACK “HAZE” WITH YOUNG T & BUGSEY
E
merging UK artist/producer Fabian Secon has
teamed up with fellow UK stars Young T &
Bugsey (Stormzy, Belly Squad, Da Beatfreakz)
for new track “Haze”, a progressive record
with its own sound unlike anything else on
the airwaves currently. The track was written
and produced by Fabian Secon alongside
Lucas Secon , Chucks and Mintman, with
additional lyrics by Young T & Bugsey.
Speaking on the collaboration, Fabian says,
“Bugsey and I connected online many
months ago and had a mutual admiration for
each other’s music, so a collaboration was a
natural progression. It was interesting as we
have very different styles but came together
to create something very original with an
alternative folk-trap vibe. It has a strong
sense of euphoria and talks about the loyalty
and protection you experience with a loved
one.”
“Haze” aims to continue the momentum Fabian has created over the last few months
with a string of successful and critically Photo: acclaimed Stan Schneider releases that have helped
establish a growing fan base for the unsigned artist, bolstered by word of mouth and
support from the likes of MTV, dynmk, Pigeons & Planes, Complex, Link Up TV,
HHS1987, Thisis50 and more. Previous release “Defeated” has already achieved over
70,000 streams on SoundCloud since being released only a few weeks ago, pushing
Fabian past half a million SoundCloud streams in total.
Prior to this Fabian released the soulful “Teenage Love” (via DMR/Warners), which
was co-produced by frequent collaborator 5ive Beatz (Nines, Stormzy, Ray BLK,
Krept & Konan, Abra Cadabra) and soared straight into the top 3 of US music site
DJBooth’s Independent Hip-Hop/R&B Chart and into the top 100 on US platform
Audiomack in just 3 days. Fabian already joined forces with 5ive Beatz earlier this
year for joint EP Until We Meet Again as well as UK R&B singerGeovarn for “Tell Me”,
and there are more collaborations in the vault with the likes of Nyge, AJ Tracey, and
Tayá, further solidifying his place at the forefront of the UK’s revitalised urban music
scene.
Fabian’s rise has been swift and impressive, given it was only last year when he
dropped his debut EP, Don’t Disturb , which received a great reception and paved
the way for support from a wealth of radio stations and industry tastemakers, such
as Jamz Supernova and DJ Target at BBC Radio 1Xtra, where EP single “Sensei” was
given BBC Introducing Single Of The Week honours by MistaJam. The accompanying
video went on to accumulate 150,000 streams on Fabian’s VEVO channel —which has
attracted a big audience for all of his visuals released so far. Fabian has also had
support from Capital FM and Capital XTRA for “Gold Plated” and was selected by
Spotify earlier this year to feature in several of their highly sought-after playlists
with “Lust” and “Rockstar”.
With a fan base clearly on board and online buzz growing daily, his next pursuit is
the live circuit. Having already performed at UK venues Jazz Cafe, Hoxton Bar &
Grill, and Barfly among others, Fabian will be playing at London’s Ruby Blue on
November 9th, as well as venturing out overseas. He recently performed at Vega in
Copenhagen and has an upcoming show in Paris, with more dates to be announced
soon.

JORDAN LAFAVER CONFIRMS 2018 ALBUM

After numerous cancelations,
setbacks and unfulfilled promises,
pop artist Jordan LaFaver confirmed
what many fans have been hoping in
a recent interview; his debut album
should appear in the latter half of
this year after 4 years in
development. Speaking with
Exposed Vocals, the former Diary of
Snow vocalist openly admits he’s
prematurely announced the album
several times already. “In 2015 I said
the album would come out the
following year, then again in 2017,”
he confessed. “I definitely had the
content ready, but I vastly
underestimated how much it takes
financially to do this the right way.”
This interview is by far his most in-depth
since pausing his band in 2014, diving
into his roots and inspirations, as well as
his plans for the immediate future. He
dishes on the reason behind his Pierce
The Veil tattoo, possible touring and his
admiration for Drake. The biggest and
most exciting revelation, however, is a
rumored EP already in the works after
this year’s debut album. Still talking
about upcoming releases, LaFaver goes
on to say the untitled EP may release in
2019.
This would be a substantial change of
pace for the 25-year-old singer, who’s
only released three tracks as himself
since 2015, and only considers one of
them to be representative of his true
sound. He claims the first two of his three
singles, Lipstick Stains and Salem, are
tests of his various new directions as an
artist. Real, his latest single and the only
official preview of his new album, is in his
own words “the first track I’ve made that
fully represents” what he can do. The
song currently sits at 54k views on
Youtube, making it Jordan’s second most
successful behind the previous Salem.

Aside from this announcement,
longtime fans of LaFaver may already
know he’s been releasing teasers of
new music on Instagram
(@diaryofsnow) for months. On
January 6th, a short clip appeared of a
track titled “Loud” that according to
the caption is a 2018 release, and in the
two months prior he posted other
snippets and studio clips that one
could speculate will appear on one of
these upcoming projects. A song
preview also appeared two days later
in the form of a parody/flip of the
Cartoon Network series Regular Show.
Some of these videos also made an
appearance on his less followed
Twitter.
In regard to the aforementioned Loud
clip, it seems the young artist’s sound
and content have both matured. Back
in 2016, it was reported that his debut
album would be explicit and require a
parental advisory label; the first time
in his career this would be necessary.
These recent snippets prove he’s
indeed headed deeper into the newschool
market; the Loud clip even
clearly states “Mature Content,” and
the album art displays an explicit
content warning.

talented and charismatic artist based
in San Francisco. She is particularly

Nothing But You, Nicky grew up in Japan, but relocated half the
world away, heading for the sunny shores of California.

with vocal production and engineering by Multi-platinum
winning engineer Joel Evenden (Eric Clapton, Lara Fabian, Rod
Stewart, BB King…), features the distinctive voice of Nicky, nee
Kiyomi Ishii. “I Love You On My Own” is the follow-up album
to Nothing But You’s single, “On My Own,” which soared to
Number 1 on iTunes’ Blues charts in Japan and Turkey and
currently #119 on DRT Global Top 200 Airplay Chart!
Nothing But You has been granted “Best Lyric” and "Adult
Contemporary" awards by the Global Music Awards (GMA) for
her song "On My Own" from the album “I Love You On My

Congratulations. You're TMN’s Woman Of The Year.
Thank you very much! I contacted by TMN Magazine on
Jan.15th, 2017 without any knowledge for interview on my
first album Meant To Be but just one year later I receive
this honor from TMN is my greatest pleasure!!
Were you surprised at the positive response to your first
album Meant To Be?
Of course!! I had no idea how to let music industry pay
attention on my music but the last year have been amazing!
The response on the first album has been overwhelming.
We kept the second album a secret on purpose until it’s
release, to make sure Meant To Be got the attention it
deserved...
When did you decide you wanted to be famous?
Two years ago, my friends complained about our age and
lost excitement for rest of the life. So I just decided to show
them the proof saying, “Watch me! Life is getting more
exciting from now on!”
Have you found what you were looking for from fame?
I found so important things from fame they are called opportunities to meet many
wonderful people that I’ve never known before. If you don’t forget about
appreciation, respect and efforts, the fame brings you much more treasure.
What is your song “On My Own“ about?
To me “On My Own” is all about Life. Life is not easy but if you have a strong will
and keep moving forward, you will find the most important thing which makes you
happy and fulfilled….It’s a cheering song for Life!
Do you think you're a role model?
“ Not Yet!” If I become much more successful singer as an independent artist by
the end of 2018, please ask me the same question^^
Are you proud of what you've achieved this year?
HUGE Yes! Most importantly I got so many great support from my fans across the
world that’s the Greatest achievement for me! BUT I also would like to say this…I
met my miraculous music team (Multi award winning Turkish singer/songwriter
Emine SARI, Multi-Platinum award winner London-based music engineer and
producer Joel Evenden who has worked with legendary artists including Eric
Clapton, Lara Fabian, Rod Stewart and BB King… , Turkish music producer Cihat
Atlig and Super PR team). With this powerful music team, my 1st Original single
“Lips” won the Akademia Music Award Best Blues Song. The 2nd Original song
“Tell Me” hit iTunes Easy listening charts #1 in Turkey. The 3rd Original song “On
My Own” hit #1 on iTunes Blues charts in Japan and Turkey, and being on DRT Top
100 Airplay charts. Huff Post exclusively premiered Music video. Also, we won the
Global Music Awards for Adult contemporary, Lyrics/Songwriting (proud my
composer Emine SARI. And….I received the honor of TMN’s Woman Of The Year!!

you faced last year?
The biggest challenges were Radio
Interviews…because my native
language is Japanese but I have to
listen and answer by all English.
OMG! It was almost nightmare…but
once I went through it, I would like to
do more…even TV^^
Can you tell us about your
experience working with Emine
SARI? Did you get anything out of
that experience?
I think Emine SARI and I were twins
or Mom & daughter in previous life.
We think and feel almost same way
and inspire each other a lot. I had
been holding my true passion and
feelings inside of me since I was born
but I couldn’t express exactly what
was it about…..but since I have met
Emine SARI, she showed me what is
that about through music and I could
sing out my feeling very naturally
saying myself “Yes, this is it! This is
what I wanted to express and share
with people to make this world better
and happy.” She is a part of me as
music composer and my life.
"My new album contains a lot of
surprises and interesting
collaborations, including ones with
Emine SARI, Joel Evenden and
many more. Every song on the
album is clearly “Original Music”
and they all have their own vibe
and story behind it."
Can you talk about one woman who has impacted your life?
Whitney Houston is the one opened the door for my music world. When I first listened and watched her

DJ Frost gave us the low down on her tour: “So far I’ve covered 11 countries and broadcast over 30
shows. My intention is to bridge the gaps between music communities across the world. Way Out
Radio is a community radio show based in Guildford, Surrey. I wanted to take the show to the
next level and encourage the youth to expand their horizons in life. Doing this world tour has
been a massive challenge for me and the show but it has allowed us to reach out to underground
artists across the world who we otherwise wouldn’t know about and give their music exposure on
UK radio! I have seen some amazing concerts and met incredible people so far, from the
antifascist skinheads in Ukraine to the Japanese Rockabillies and discovered the punk scenes in
Russia and Thailand which were so impressive. It has been a totally crazy experience and has
opened my eyes to the fact there are so many young musicians around the world full of passion
and talent. I had an amazing time in Tokyo too, it was like another world entirely. I met up with
DJs over there and got to hang out backstage with some incredible bands. I even got to hang out
with the lead singer of the 5,6,7,8’s who told me all about the bands cameo in the film Kill Bill and
how they got to spend time with Jack White at his mansion in the USA.
At the moment the show is broadcasting from Hawaii and I am catching a flight to LA next. After
that, the show is working its way through America and finishing up in Jamaica and Canada before
returning back to the UK in May 2018.”

Jon Vinyl’s latest single “Life” depicts
the inner turmoil of a young
introspective artist, trying to pursue
their dreams. The self-aware 19 year
old sheds light on the experience of
having to remain diligent in such a
fast-paced city. Jon croons through to
the end with ethereal harmonies to
the chant/reminder that life doesn’t
wait, so neither will he.

Julias Moon debuted with the single ‘Bay’ which was
‘Pick of The Week’, nominated ‘Listeners Choice’ and
‘Talent of the Year’ on P3 in Denmark and propelled
the bands career.
Their second single ‘Lipstick Lies’ topped the local
sales and airplaycharts and became one of the biggest
hits in Denmark in 2014. In November 2014 they
released their debut EP “FAKE ID HEARTBREAK”
which was certified Platinum and included the singles:
”Bay”, ”Lipstick Lies” and ”Palace” streaming more
than 20 million combined. Julias Moon were
nominated for ‘Best New Act’ and ‘Best Duo or Group’
at Danish Music Awards 2014 and have played all major
TV shows in Denmark and more than 200 concerts in
Denmark, Sweden, Norway and France.
Londoner Matt Adey has been skirting
a US-breakthrough since his track
“Time Stood Still” featured on Armin
Van Buren’s #1 US Dance album ‘A
State Of Trance’ in 2015. Since then
Matt has been working with producer
Chris Potter (The Rolling Stones, The
Verve (Urban Hymns), U2) on an
upcoming album ‘Love And Deeper
Cuts’.

London based alt. singer-songwriter Cecilia
Ebba from northern Sweden just released her
new single, ‘Voices’, on November 24th. The
track is the third single from Cecilia’s solo
project, a project she began sharing with the

previous singles ‘Sweet Summer Wine’ and
‘Breathe Out Breathe In’. With this self
produced and atmospheric new single Cecilia
is introducing a new side of her by inviting the
listener closer than ever with her deeply
personal songwriting and stripped back
production.

SPENCER
Born in Utah, raised in rural Arizona, and currently
living in New York City, Spencer Day has called many
places home. He has wandered amid the expansive and
diverse landscape of American music, developing an
artistic sensibility that borrows from numerous sources:
jazz, musical theater, cabaret, soul, folk, traditional and
contemporary pop. Day uses intuition and improvisation
as his primary tools to craft a sound that is familiar, yet
fresh and innovative at the same time.
Day’s Vagabond album peaked at #11 on the Billboard
Album Charts and stayed on the chart for 47 weeks. The
lead single, “Til You Come To Me,” peaked at #3 on the
chart. His recent album, Daybreak, debuted at #1 on the
Itunes Jazz Charts. Spencer’s latest single, “72 and
Sunny,” marks his debut on the Mediabase Adult
Contemporary chart where it has been for the last 12
weeks and currently resides at #23.

Tin Tenn is a Memphis-based artist who is ready to share his remarkable story of perseverance in the form of music.
His music passion and style comes not only from his past experiences but also the soul and vibe that only comes from
Memphis music. The 24-year-old lived a rough life for the entirety of his formative years, leading him to find music as
his only lifeline when he hit rock bottom. His infectious style of hook-laden hip-hop is the perfect channel for his

the journey of Tin Tenn.
