Athlete Biographies - Canadian Freestyle Ski Team MO G U L S World Cup Ranking 2004-05 24 Audrey Robichaud Date of birth: May 5, 1988 Age (as of Oct. 1, 2005): 17 Place of birth: Quebec City, Quebec Residence: Val Bélair, Quebec • First year as world Cup team member. • Began freestyle skiing in 1996 at the age of 7 with the Freestyle Ski Club in Lac-Beauport. “At that time, I was one of the youngest athletes competing in the region of Québec City.” • 2004-2005 Female World Cup Rookie of the Year. • Captured the 2004 National dual mogul title in Mont-Gabriel, Quebec while still a member of the Quebec Freestyle Ski team. • Her hero is Lance Armstrong. • Goal for the season: To qualify for the Canadian Olympic team. • Most unusual job: “I worked the summer of 2004 staining the wood being used for the construction of the Centre National de Sport Yves LaRoche. • Enjoys listening to music, playing soccer, riding her bike, and spending time with friends. • Considers her friends and family the most influential people in her life. • Long term goals: “Gold medallist at the 2009 FIS World Freestyle Ski Championships, and gold medallist at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver!” World Cup Results 8 Inawashiro 05 Canadian Championships 4 Gabriel 05 major results 28

Rousseau was flown home to Canada after undergoing surgery in France where doctors performed a fusion of the C-6 and C-7 vertebrae. “After my injury I had to learn how to walk, run, ski and jump.” • Missed competing at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games where he was favoured for a medal, but Rousseau was there to cheer on his team-mates. • Returned to competition in 2003 and captured his first World Cup win in Tremblant, Quebec, exactly one year after sustaining his injury. • Spent the summer training in Whistler, Australia and at home in Quebec at the Centre National Yves LaRoche. Trains with private coach, Dominick Gauthier who is also coaching team rookie, Alexandre Bilodeau. • Silver medallist at the 2001 FIS World Freestyle Ski Championships. • Gold medallist at the 2000 Goodwill Games. • Five-time National Champion. • Views Jean-Luc Brassard and Dominick Gauthier as his role models. “They were the skiers I always admired when I was growing up and I still do now. When I made the team they taught me a lot so I could improve quickly.” • Also attributes much of his success to his friend, Martin Parenteau: “He died several years ago. He taught me everything in life from the time I was twelve years old. He was ten years older than me and he is everything that I am.” • Enjoys skydiving, surfing and driving.
