This program is intended to <strong>of</strong>fer an opportunity<br />

to students to obtain skills and competencies that<br />

are highly relevant to the rapidly growing face <strong>of</strong> business<br />

and industry — largely engendered by the<br />

accelerating development <strong>of</strong> new technologies and the<br />

emerging global economy.<br />

The program objective is to prepare students to become<br />

leaders in the corporate world <strong>of</strong> the 21st century by<br />

emphasizing in fundamentals <strong>of</strong> science, engineering,<br />

management and business administration, and by concentrating<br />

on the development <strong>of</strong> critical thinking skills<br />

directed toward practical problem solving and informed<br />

decision making.<br />

Students will obtain the ability to make decisions concerning<br />

technology selection and product process development<br />

in ways that combine technical, financial, marketing,<br />

human resources and strategic considerations. They will<br />

learn how to perform economic analyses for new products,<br />

technologies and processes and how to prepare business<br />

plans that include financial details, marketing strategies<br />

and design decisions based on target costs and forecasted<br />

rate <strong>of</strong> return on investment capital.<br />

The program has several possibilities for areas <strong>of</strong> concentration.<br />

These areas can be tailored for students who<br />

have interests in environmental, manufacturing, fire<br />

safety, construction management, transportation, materials<br />

and engineering foundations.<br />
