Unmarried Students<br />
The university’s residence halls provide facilities for room<br />
and board for undergraduate and graduate men and<br />
women. First-year students not living with their families<br />
must live in the residence halls or in fraternity or sorority<br />
houses. Exceptions to this policy may be granted by the<br />
director <strong>of</strong> housing. Housing for first-year students is<br />
guaranteed through June 1. Residence hall contracts are<br />
Meals<br />
Students living in residence halls contract for a variety<br />
<strong>of</strong> meal plans. Meal plans and meals on a cash basis are<br />
available to non-residents.<br />
Housing Deposit Fee<br />
An initial $300 nonrefundable payment, which applies in<br />
full to charges for room and board, must be submitted to<br />
the director <strong>of</strong> housing by June 1 for fall semester applicants<br />
or by December 1 for spring semester applicants.<br />
Commuting Students<br />
A student living at home and commuting will spend an<br />
estimated annual average <strong>of</strong> $2,000 on living costs at<br />
Miscellaneous Expenses<br />
Miscellaneous personal and recreational expenses are<br />
estimated at $2,100 for the academic year. These figures<br />
are used in computing the <strong>of</strong>ficial financial aid budget.<br />
Married Students<br />
There are 356 living units in four high-rise apartment<br />
buildings on campus. These units range from efficiency to<br />
three-bedroom apartments and are not air conditioned.<br />
Leases are available to married students and single fulltime<br />
graduate students if space is available. Rentals for<br />
unfurnished apartments, including all utilities except<br />
