Second Bachelor’s Degree<br />
A student whose first degree is granted by IIT must<br />
complete a minimum <strong>of</strong> 15 additional credit hours at IIT.<br />
A student whose first degree was awarded by another<br />
institution must complete a minimum <strong>of</strong> 45 additional<br />
Student Academic Petitions<br />
A student may request a review <strong>of</strong> decisions concerning<br />
academic status or regulations by submitting a student<br />
petition. Students must contact the Office <strong>of</strong> Educational<br />
Services to receive a petition as well as instructions<br />
regarding the petition process.<br />
Transcripts<br />
Transcripts can be requested from the Office <strong>of</strong> Student<br />
Records and Registration. Requests must have the signature<br />
<strong>of</strong> the student to comply with the Family<br />
Educational Rights and Privacy Act <strong>of</strong> 1974 as amended.<br />
Withdrawal from the University and Leave <strong>of</strong> Absence<br />
A full-time degree-seeking student who withdraws from<br />
all <strong>of</strong> his or her courses is in effect withdrawing from the<br />
university. A student who withdraws from the university<br />
is required to complete the Official Withdrawal Form in<br />
the Office <strong>of</strong> Educational Services. Failure to complete<br />
this form may create difficulties in the student’s eligibility<br />
to receive a tuition credit, if any is appropriate; in<br />
clearing his or her financial record; and in having<br />
academic records reflect an <strong>of</strong>ficial withdrawal.<br />
Full-time students who withdraw with the intention <strong>of</strong><br />
returning to complete their degree program may be<br />
granted a leave <strong>of</strong> absence. Students must complete the<br />
Official Withdrawal Form in the Office <strong>of</strong> Educational<br />
Services and ask for the leave <strong>of</strong> absence designation in<br />
their exit interview. This designation may be granted only<br />
to those students who are in good academic standing. A<br />
leave <strong>of</strong> absence cannot exceed one academic year.<br />

credit hours at IIT. All other graduation requirements<br />
apply for the second degree. The GPA required for<br />
“summa cum laude”, “magna cum laude”, and “cum<br />
laude” for the second degree includes all IIT coursework.<br />
Students who wish to take a course at another institution<br />
during the summer must submit a student petition to<br />
the Office <strong>of</strong> Educational Services in order to receive<br />
university approval. This must be done prior to the<br />
registration at another institution.<br />
Transcripts will be released only after the student has<br />
fulfilled all financial obligations to the university. Official<br />
copies <strong>of</strong> transcripts are not issued directly to students.<br />
A fee is charged for each transcript issued.<br />
A part-time degree-seeking student who withdraws from<br />
all <strong>of</strong> his or her courses is not required to submit an<br />
Official Withdrawal Form.<br />
Any undergraduate student who is not in attendance for<br />
a semester must apply for reinstatement in the Office <strong>of</strong><br />
Educational Services.<br />
