ROTC: Military Science<br />

Basic Course<br />

The Basic Course is an introduction to military science<br />

and carries no military obligation. Completion is a prerequisite<br />

to enrollment in the Advanced Course. Prior<br />

Leadership Development Assessment Course (LDAC)<br />

All cadets who successfully complete the Basic Course,<br />

meet the physical and academic requirements, and pass<br />

an <strong>of</strong>ficer-qualification test and a physical examination<br />

are eligible for selection by the pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> military science<br />

for the Leadership Development Assessment Course<br />

(LDAC). A tax-free subsistence allowance <strong>of</strong> $450-500 per<br />

month is paid to each cadet in this advanced course<br />

Leadership Training Course (LTC)<br />

Cadets are paid approximately $800 during this courses.<br />

Travel to and from this course is at government expense.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Military Education Requirements (PMEs)<br />

In order to receive a well-rounded education, cadets are<br />

required to complete courses in the following areas:<br />

Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)<br />

Membership in the Army National Guard or United<br />

States Army Reserve <strong>of</strong>fers cadets additional experience<br />

as <strong>of</strong>ficer trainees, and these individuals will receive both<br />

Financial Assistance<br />

In addition to a monthly stipend <strong>of</strong> $450-500 as an<br />

advance-course cadet, the program <strong>of</strong>fers two-, three- and<br />

four-year federal Army ROTC scholarships for full tuition<br />

to qualified students. IIT <strong>of</strong>fers an excellent incentive<br />
