The Air Force ROTC College Scholarship Program (CSP)<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers four- and three-year scholarships for highly qualified<br />

high school graduates interested in an Air Force<br />

career. Additionally, the In-College Scholarship Program<br />

(ICSP) <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong> scholarships to qualified stu-<br />

Courses<br />

The General Military Course (AS 101, 102, 201, 202)<br />

examines the role <strong>of</strong> U.S. Military forces in the contemporary<br />

world, with particular attention to the United States<br />

Air Force and its organization and mission.<br />

The Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Officer Course (AS 301, 302, 401, 402)<br />

provides an examination <strong>of</strong> the broad range <strong>of</strong> U.S. civilmilitary<br />

relations, the environmental context in which<br />

U.S. defense policy is formulated and implemented, and<br />

Four-Year Program<br />

The four-year program consists <strong>of</strong> a two-year General<br />

Military Course (GMC) and a two-year Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

Officer Course (POC). Students normally start this program<br />

in their freshman year. Qualified students with<br />

previous service or at least three years Air Force JROTC<br />

may start as sophomores and enroll directly in the AS<br />

200 course. Any student who is not on an AFROTC scholarship<br />

may withdraw from the GMC at any time.<br />

Students selected for POC must complete an AFROTC<br />

sponsored four-week field training encampment at an Air<br />

Force Base before being awarded POC status and<br />

Two-Year Program<br />

This program is designed for undergraduate and graduate<br />

students in qualified majors with fewer than three,<br />

but at least two, years <strong>of</strong> coursework remaining towards<br />

their degree. Completion <strong>of</strong> this program requires a fiveweek<br />

summer field training encampment and the<br />

two-year POC. The five-week field training session is normally<br />

and preferably the summer prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the<br />

senior year (or first semester <strong>of</strong> the POC), but may be<br />

completed the following summer. Not meeting this<br />

Minor<br />

Students may select a minor in Air Force aerospace<br />

studies. See page 126 for course requirements.<br />

complements the program by providing fellowship and<br />
