The duration of the programme is 3 1 / 2 Academic years comprising 7 semesters.<br />
3. CLASS HOURS<br />
Classes will be held from 6.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. on all working days and classes may also be held during<br />
day time on sundays / holidays at the discretion of the faculty concerned.<br />
Candidates seeking admission should satisfy the admission authorities that they will be in a position to<br />
attend the classes in the evenings and also on holidays and fulfill the requirements regarding attendance<br />
as laid down by the University from time to time.<br />

4. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION<br />
Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions given below as on the last date of submission of application<br />
are eligible to apply. No change in claims made in application will be permitted after the last date<br />
prescribed for submission of application.<br />
a) Qualification<br />
Candidates should have passed any one of the 3 years Diploma course in appropriate branch of<br />
Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu from an<br />
AICTE approved institution or its equivalent.<br />
b) Year of passing Diploma<br />
Candidates should have passed the diploma examination in the relevant branch of specialisation<br />
atleast two years before the last date prescribed for submission of application.<br />
c<br />
Place of work<br />
Candidates should be working in a place within a distance of 120 km from the college to which<br />
he/she seeks admission so as to enable him / her to attend the classes regularly by 6.15 p.m. and the<br />
place of working should be in Tamil Nadu.<br />

No age limit is prescribed for admission to B.E. / B.Tech. Part Time degree courses.<br />

courses mentioned above have to obtain the eligibility certificate from the Directorate of<br />
Technical Education and should produce the same without fail.<br />
If Registration of applications is less than 15, candidates applications will not be<br />

If candidates who appear for counselling is less than 15, counselling will not be<br />
conducted.<br />
Any course shall be offered only if the admission strength is more than 15.<br />

Marks for work experience shall be calculated from the succeeding month of passing the qualifying<br />
diploma examination to the last date prescribed for the receipt of completed application. Maximum<br />
25 marks for work experience shall be calculated as follows<br />

iii Preparation of Merit List<br />
Merit list will be prepared as per ranking based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the<br />
Qualifying Diploma examination and the marks awarded for the period of service adopting the<br />
weightage proportion 75:25 and evaluated for a total of 100 marks.<br />
In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common rank list, inter-se<br />
rank among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as given below.<br />

7. COMMUNAL RESERVATION<br />
7.1. Selection shall be made under seven categories namely OC, BC, BCM BC Muslim, MBC & DNC, SC,<br />
SCA and ST reservation following the rules of communal reservation of the Government of<br />
TamilNadu.<br />
7.2. Tamil Nadu native Candidates alone will be considered for communal reservation. The list of<br />
communities is given in Annexure –I on Page No. 15 to 21.<br />

Candidates seeking admission under ST/ SC/ SCA/ MBC & DNC/ BC & BCM Muslim quota should<br />
obtain the certificate of social status issued by the competent authority in the Permanent Community<br />
card format or Electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate prescribed by the Government of Tamil<br />
Nadu and upload a self attested photocopy of the same along with the online application.<br />
Community Certificate in paper format will not be accepted.<br />

competent authorities in the migrated district on or after 28.10.2009, will be considered as per G.O.<br />
St No. 95 BC, MBC & Minorities Welfare Department, da ted 28.10.2009.<br />

Community Certificate obtained from Other States will not be considered for communal reservation.<br />
Other state candidates working in Tamil Nadu will be considered under Open Competition OC<br />
Category only.<br />
Candidates who have not enclosed the self attested photocopy of the Permanent Community<br />
Certificate in card format or electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate at the time of submission<br />
of the application will be treated under OC Category. In the event of such a decision, the eligibility<br />
conditions and rules prescribed for OC category will be applicable for such candidates and if such<br />
candidates do not satisfy the rules of “OC Category” their applications are liable to be rejected. No<br />
correspondence in this regard will be entertained.<br />

Candidates who have passed IX std. / X std. /qualifying Diploma examination outside Tamil Nadu will<br />
be considered under Open Competition category only. However, Tamil Nadu Native candidates who<br />
have studied either IX std. or X std. or Diploma outside Tamil Nadu and claim communal reservation<br />
should enclose a copy of Nativity Certificate only in electronic form / digitally signed<br />
e-Certificate along with the filled in online application, otherwise they will be considered under OC<br />
category.<br />
8. DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS CATEGORY<br />
<br />
Five percent of seats are reserved for Differently Abled Persons @ 1% for each of the following<br />

the programme identified for each disabilities<br />

Candidates seeking admission against the reservation set apart for Differently Abled Persons should<br />
upload the certificate obtained from the District Medical Board certifying the nature and extent<br />
of disability in percentage and with regard to the suitability for admission to Engineering<br />
Colleges as mentioned in section No. 8.1.<br />
<br />
The Competent Authority to issue Disability Certificate shall be a District Medical Board duly<br />
constituted by the State Government. The District Medical Board shall consists of a minimum<br />
of three members Chairman and two Members out of which atleast one shall be a<br />
specialist depending on the disability prescribed.<br />
Certificate obtained from an individual doctor will NOT be considered.<br />

The medical certificate should be in the prescribed format given in Certificate No. I, II & III.<br />
The certificates should have been obtained prior to the last date prescribed for registration and<br />
submission of online application indicated in the notification.<br />

8.1 Eligibility Criteria for various Disabilities<br />
a. Norms for Locomotor disability including cerebral paisy, leprosy cured<br />
dwarfism acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy<br />
Candidates with permanent physical impairment of 40 % and above are considered as disabled.<br />
The candidates with Orthopaedic Disability of the following types are eligible for claiming<br />
admission against Differently Abled Persons Category Certificate No. I on Page No. 22<br />
i Independent in ambulance with or without calipers but without walking aids.<br />
ii Good standing balance without calipers but without any support.<br />
iii Hand Function with normal limit without any aid<br />
iv Good control over bladder & bowl<br />
v Disease must be non -progressive<br />
b. Norms for Deaf and Hard Hearing<br />
Candidates with hearing ability of 40 db and above only in the better ear with speech<br />
discrimination score of 50 % and above are considered as disabled. Certificate No. II<br />

c. Norms for Blindness & Low vision<br />
Candidates with low vision of 40 % and above are considered as disabled. Certificate<br />

Low Vision: Persons with low vision means a person with impairment of vision of less than<br />

9. COUNSELLING<br />
Counselling will be based on the rank and communal reservation.<br />
Rank list and counselling schedule date, time and cut -off mark will be published in<br />
Anna University Website. All the eligible candidates should download the “Intimation of<br />
Counselling” Call Letter from Anna University Website. The eligible candidates who have<br />
applied and whose marks are as specified or above the cut-off mark called for counselling, may<br />
appear with their original certificates List will be available in Anna University website two<br />
hours before the counselling session. College and branch will be allotted only through counselling as<br />
per their rank following communal reservation. Candidates are advised to visit Anna University<br />
Website: http://www.annnauniv.edu/<strong>bept</strong>2018 for counselling details. Counselling will be held<br />
at Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions, Anna University, Chennai-25 only.<br />
Candidates should attend the counselling at their own cost and risk. Candidates who do not attend<br />
the counselling on the specified date and time cannot claim any right for admission at a later date.<br />
If any candidate could not download “Intimation of Counselling” Call Letter he /she should<br />
report to the Enquiry office at the Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions with<br />
evidence for having applied for Part-time B.E. / B.Tech. degree programme 2017-2018. Candidate, if<br />
eligible after verification, will be issued a duplicate call letter.<br />
The counselling schedule will be published in the website of Anna University, Chennai-25<br />
http://www.annnauniv.edu/<strong>bept</strong>2018 before the commencement of counselling.<br />
10. Present Employment Certificate Refer Certificate No. IV on page No. 25<br />
Candidates can download the format for Present Employment certificate No. IV from<br />
Anna University website. Present employer must fill this certificate. The candidates should upload a<br />
copy of this certificate. Registration of Application without uploading this certificate will<br />
be rejected.<br />
Candidates with experience certificate issued by organisations / Institutions other than Government /<br />
Quasi Government Department should also upload any one of the following:<br />
1. TNGST Certificate / CST Certificate / TIN Certificate.<br />
2. Certificate of Registration under Companies Act. / SSI Registration Certificate / Certificate<br />
of any statutory body.<br />
3. Government approved contractors registration certificate current year) License No. with<br />
latest I.T. clearance certificate for private individuals other than companies.<br />
4. GPF statement, Pay slip, etc.<br />

Note:<br />
The Period of Training / Apprenticeship will not be counted for experience.<br />
The period of work experience will be taken from the succeeding month of<br />
passing the qualifying Diploma Examination to the last date prescribed for<br />
Registration of applications.<br />
Work experience will be taken into account only if the Registration /<br />
Certificate number of the companies is clearly mentioned in the work<br />
experience certificate, otherwise the period of experience will not be<br />
considered.<br />
Offer of appointment letter / relieving order will not be considered in lieu of<br />
work experience certificate.<br />
Date of joining and date of relieving should be clearly mentioned in the<br />
experience certificate.<br />
Work experience certificates should be in the employer’s letter head with<br />
TNGST / CST / TIN / TAN / RC / License No. etc.<br />
If the candidate had worked in foreign countries, he/she should produce<br />
certificate in the employer’s letter head clearly mentioning the date of<br />
joining and date of relieving and the nature of work etc. Further, copies of<br />
passport and work visa have to be uploaded. In the visa / passport, if the<br />
entries are in languages other than English, translation from the authorised<br />
institution of the same in English should be produced.<br />

any, should be supported with Gazette notification. In the case of women candidates, other<br />
