God requires that the church arouse from her
lethargy and see what is the manner of service
demanded of her at this time of peril. The lambs of
the flock must be fed. The Lord of heaven is
looking on to see who is doing the work He would
have done for the children and youth. The eyes of
our brethren and sisters should be anointed with
heavenly eyesalve, that they may discern the
necessities of the time. We must be aroused to see
what needs to be done in Christ’s spiritual
vineyard, and go to work.
A Liberal Education to Be Provided
As a people who claim to have advanced light,
we are to devise ways and means by which to bring
forth a corps of educated workmen for the various
departments of the work of God. We need a welldisciplined,
cultivated class of young men and
women in our sanitariums, in the medical
missionary work, in the offices of publication, in
the conferences of different states, and in the field
at large. We need young men and women who
have a high intellectual culture, in order that they
