How long have you been a tattoo artist? 

I work professionally with the tattoo only one year now, 

and another one i made practiced at my home. 

Do you find that there are any challenges that you face 

being a female artist? 

Like, do some think that you aren’t good because you’re a 

woman? 

So far I have not met any challenges on my way because I 

am woman. I believe that the most important is the skill 

of everyone and not If you are a man or a woman. 

Do guy tattoo artist hate on you? 

I would not use the word hate because I think it is very 

tough, but there is definitely a very strong competition, 

as in all professions I think... 

Do you remember the first tattoo that you ever done? 

Of course I remember it! As long as the days arrived to 

make it my heart was going to explode!! I remember 

even the date! It was the 9th of October. Also I celebrate 

every year this date because from that day and on my 

life was changed . 

How would you describe your tattooing style? 

Realistic colour and realistic black and gray. Always I 

try to mix and manipulate many photos so I can come 

with a unique design for my customer. 

What is the secret to achieving such detail in your tattoos? 

My secret is my husband! (who is also my manager) who 

is telling me all the time to put as much detail as possible.

Where is the most difficult place for you to tattoo someone? 

I would not say that there is a particular really difficult 

place when tattooing someone. But if you asked my 

opinion, I would prefer to tattoo in places that are less 

painful, so that the customer can be more comfortable 

when sitting for a project for several hours. 

How may tattoos do you currently have? 

I have 3 tattoos. 

Did you do any of them yourself? 

Yes. I have done one to myself. 

Do your friends let you tatt them up for practice? 

Yes, there was some people. Unfortunately it was very 

few... 

Should drunk people get inked? 

Of course not. If someone comes in drunk it makes my 

job more difficult because they bleed out more. 

What is the most bizarre tattoo you have ever put on someone? 

I would not use the word bizarre because for me every tattoo 

that I make I see it clearly from an artistic perspective. 

But it was one that has stayed on my mind. I had made for 

a woman one slice of pizza on the left side of her butt and 

on the right I made a cupcake . 

What tattoo artists, if any, do you draw inspiration from? 

There are many Tattoo Artists that inspire me, but for me 

the main one is not a Tattoo Artist but a Painter. His name 

is Emanuele Dascanio. He has left me speechless with his 

incredible talent! And also with his obsessions in the details 

that he depicts in every single work!! 

What’s the secret to being a great tattoo artist? 

I don't know because I do not consider myself as a great 

artist. But all I can say with confidence, that if there is a 

secret, it will definitely be the hard work, dedication and 

love of what you do! 

Who is your favorite tattoo artist? 

Generally there are many amazing artists and it is very 

difficult for me to distinguish one of them. But when you 

asked me this question two people came straight to my 

mind, Steve Butcher and Valentina Riadova. 

For a first timer, where should they get a tattoo if they do not 

like a lot of pain? 

The best places to get a tattoo are on the front of the thigh 

and the outside of the arm. 

Words of advice for anyone that wants to become a tattoo 

artist? 

If someone starts with the purpose that they will become 

tattoo artist just for the money... he has lost the game from 

the beginning. My advice is not to be disappointed with 

the difficulties that come, but to take them as lessons to 

build yourself as an artist and as a person. And there is 

nothing that you cannot achieve with hard work and dedication! 

Where can we get inked by you and see more of your work? 

I have started a new partnership with a studio located in 

Greece named Crescent tattoo studio. Generally my goal 

at the moment is to travel a lot in many different countries, 

to get know different cultures and see new places.

my social accounts and see where and for how long i will 

be. Also we have started a new channel in YouTube with 

my manager that you can find time lapse videos of my

Please introduce yourself and tell the readers where you are from: 

My name is Felicia Henriksson, I'm 22 years old and I live in Sweden. 

When did you decide that you wanted become a make up artist? 

It was about 4 years ago when I decided to try bodypainting and specialsfx makeup. 

I had begun to follow a lot of makeup artists on Instagram and Youtube who did bodypainting and cool makeuplooks 

and I just wanted to test it out myself!. Since I was a child I have always painted, and have always been a creative soul. 

Where and when did you realize that you had such an amazing skill? 

I don't think that I realized myself that I was good at makeup, it was more like I got it confirmed when I got in the top 

30 in the NYX NORDIC FACE AWARDS in the spring 2017. Then I thought "Wow... I have been chosen by several 

hundred that enterd the Face wards in the North.. I must bee quite good" haha. 

Was special effect / creative make up always what you wanted to do? 

Yes, I have always been in love with diffirent stuff and in Sweden it's not so common to have Bodypainting as an hobby. 

Where does your inspiration for your ideas come from? 

I get inspirations from other makeupaartist's, painters, my my surroundings and nature. I can even get inspiration 

from music sometimes.

Who are some of the make up artist that you admire? 

Jordan Hanz, Linda Hallberg, Ellieamacssfx and many more! 

Which one is your favorite make up artist? 

Oh god, that's a hard one! If i HAVE to choose I will choose Jordan Hanz, she is amazing at bodypainting! 

What has been your favorite creation to date? 

Another hard question.. haha! I think my favorit look I've done so far is the Water Colour skull I did last year, and that 

look was inspired by Jordan Hanz. 

How important is social media to you and your career as a make up artist? 

I think it's very important with social media now days! It's a good way to show your art to the world and be able to 

reach out to so many people. I think that I would not have a chance to be so appreciated by my art if I would not have 

started my Instagram account. I just love to show people my art. 

Any advice for aspiring make up artist? 

Don’t EVER give up! Practice makes perfect, and it's soo true! Never give up on your dreams and remeber that you 

should do art for YOU in the firsthand and not for others. Aslong as you are proud of what you have created, it's all 

that matters. 

If you could leave one mark on the world, what would it be? 

Making the world more kind and accepting to both animals and to against each other.

catch up with worldwide DJ Robb-O 

(Pronounced Rah-BO). For those of you 

who don't know, here's a little trivia for

Did you know he was even the first to spin 

"live" on the Stellar Awards? 

(I didn't think so....heck I didn't even know 

that!)

Robb-O!, Mr. Record Label Owner, Mr. 

Producer, Mr. DJ... how have things been 

going for you, Sir? 

Robbo: I'm good! Staying busy. 

T: I see. I heard your "RUNNING" remix 

last month. IT'S HOT! What's been the 

response? 

R: It's been good but I've had to focus 

more on the "BE FREE" [the release 

before RUNNING] because it's starting 

to get club and internet play. So it's been 

a balancing act that has put a positive 

hold on the label's schedule. 

T: Oh yeah, Mr. Record Label Owner! 

How many artists have you signed? 

R: It's not really set up to sign a bunch 

of artists. It's a vehicle to release music, 

work with specific artists and to focus 

on licensing situations like I did with 

"EYNSTINE". 

T: EYNSTINE? 

R: "EYNSTINE" was a group I put 

together. A fair description would be 

a comparison to "Groove Theory", a 

producer / DJ and Vocalist / Songwriter 

(LaVeda Davis). In 2016 we secured 

a licensing deal with San Juan Music 

/ SeaSpray Entertainment for the 

"BEAUTIFUL LIFE" project. 

T: That's great! So, your music is sold in different ways than 

just buying it at stores? 

R: Correct. That's why I don't look at my company 

as a traditional record label. I focus on digital sales, 

streaming and licensing. 

T: How did u get started in the music industry? 

R: The Simple answer is ...I don't know. The long and 

correct answer is that I was made to do this. My first DJ 

gig was in the Bronx when I was in junior high during 

Thanksgiving. LOL, too funny! 

T: What was your best DJ event? 

R: A club in Hong Kong. 

T: Hong Kong? Have you traveled much? 

R: Yes. At first it was with the military. After I was 

discharged I moved back to Long Island and things just 

grew to the point that I was getting booked throughout 

the Tri-State area [NY]. I also traveled a lot in 2000 

performing with Da T.R.U.T.H. 

T: Is that when you performed on BET, MTV and The 

Stellars? 

R: Yes. We did a lot of performances. I rocked with him 

for little over three years. That's how I performed with 

Kirk Franklin a few times. When Da' T.r.u.t.h took a 

pause, I filled in for Lecrea's DJ for part of a tour. 

T: What are some of the biggest differences you’ve seen in 

this business from when you started during the 80's? 

R: Computers and Attitude. Nowadays, it's easy to think 

that you are a DJ and the pompous attitude towards the 

art of DJing has gotten ridiculous. Some of the new DJ’s 

are rude to the people that they're entertaining. 

T: If you could eternally be stuck in one year's music scene, 

which year would it be? 

R: I wouldn't want to be stuck anywhere! Lol. 

T: Do you still tour now? 

R: No, I have not been on tour but i do get booked 

throughout the U.S. for various events and to promote 

the music. [Smile] It's a balancing act because time is 

needed for music production and mix shows online. 

The internet has worked well for me so i try to maintain 

a schedule! I'm currently on www.mocradio.com. We 

are in the process of working out a new time slot so

Tell the readers who you are and where you’re from? 

I go by the name Sean Conn AKA Connery [Hip Hop's 

Secret Agent] I'm from Queens NY. 

Musically how would you describe your style? 

My style is influenced by 90's and early 2000s Hip Hop 

That include tight lyrical flows with subject matter and 

the ability to be very versatile. 

Who are some of your musical influences? 

Rakim, L.L. Cool J, Lord Finesse, Redman, Nas, Common, 

Em, Pun, 

What mission is Sean Conn on within the entertainment 

industry? 

I'm on a mission to bring quality content in all forms of 

entertainment from music to visuals to video games, film 

& comic books. I am making steps to reach all my supporters 

globally with my journey. 

With a new single and project happening, can you tell us 

about it and let us know when the new mixtape will be 

dropping? 

I release my Album (The Man With The Golden Mic) on 

August 25th this project is a dedication to the golden age 

of Hip Hop with a new age twist. I have released 4 music 

videos off the project and just released the newest single 

(Feeling Like Everything) that is currently heeating up 

with national radio spins and it was placed on Pandora. I 

also dropped a new EP on Thanksgiving (Take Hits From 

The 80's And Make It Sound So Crazy) as a free download 

on my Website as a thank you to the fans and supporters. 

Thats 2 project's in 3 months, I have been working. And 

in the mix of all this I have released my very own video 

game (Quest For The Golden Mics) that's available on IPhone 

and Android. My next mixtape will be in the spring 

and the next L.P. (The Connstitution) will be out summer 

2018. 

Any collabos on it you wanna mention? 

Shout out to Vin Keatin, TRIBORO, BX Vocalist, Michelle 

Singz, Dru The Monster, Grizzy Hendrix, Homeboy 

Sandman, Charile Fetta, Miss Olivia. 

What direction do you see rap music going in the next 

2-5 years? 

In 2 to 5 years it will be powered by the independent artist 

and labels will be nothing more then investors looking 

to ride the wave of what they where in control of since 

Hip Hop left the park and became a corporate goldmine. 

There will be a new generation of Hip Hop CEOs and 

Moguls and I will be at that roundtable. 

Lyrically, you go hard. Great metaphors and punchlines. 

Why, when we are in a place where that seems to be the 

least important thing for rappers to do? 

I’m cut from a certain cloth that is rare in today's mainstream 

music, lyricism still matters to me and you can 

make a hit record and still maintain your bars at a respectable 

level. My real life mentor was Lord Finesse and 

he is one of the greatest to ever touch a mic. It's my duty 

to carry on tradition. Just think if all the hot beats out 

now had better quality bars on it, we would have songs 

that would stand the test of time and not just forgotten in 

8 months. My music will be a legacy to remember 

How do you feel about the new artist, mumble rappers 

and will it be around in the future? 

The music (producers) are saving most of the new artist. 

I remember when even if the beat was not the best a true 

artist would make themselves the musical instrument to 

make the song complete, now I can hardly understand the 

words they are saying, but I like the melodies, lol. For the 

most part 75% of the new wave we hear will be forgotten 

in 3 years. But since the start of Hip Hop we have allways 

had fly by night circus clowns in the show. Balance is 

necessary but we need more quality. 

What is the next thing on the table for Sean Conn? 

Look out for my to appear in a upcoming film, also you 

will be hearing me on alot of other artist projects. Pushing 

my L.P to Palatmum and going hard till my video 

game is one of the most popular games in app history. I'm 

on a super mission and the master of my universe. 

If you could work with any artist in their prime, just 1, 

dead or alive who would it be? 

It would be Redman. He is the rapper that actually inspired 

me to pick up a pen and began to write. 

From where do you draw your inspiration to create music? 

Sometimes it's just a vision I may have, other times it can 

be the music I get from various producers. I never force 

it, it has to flow organically.

from. 

My name is Nozomi. I was born and raised in Japan but 

Hawaii is my home now. 

Which of your tattoos has the most meaning? 

Probably this one on my left leg. It’s a snake that is not 

finished yet. It’s supposed to be my awakening kundalini. 

What was your first tattoo? 

This tiny little tribal dragon on my hip. I got it when I was 

18 with my little sister. We thought we were so badass. 

How many tattoos do you have? 

About 15 

Which tattoo hurt the most? 

The one on my chest. It was so painful so I never finished 

the details. 

What is your favorite tattoo? 

I like all of them. I think the bigger pieces look the best 

though 

What inspired you to turn your body into a canvas of beautiful 

art? 

I think my tattoos were just from rage and passion. I 

didn’t know how else to express myself so I would just get 

a drawing on my body that represented some symbol of 

learning that I was going though. As time went on, my 

body just became covered with these drawings.

Do you attend any tattoo conventions? 

I went to Hawaii tattoo convention. 

How important is social media to you as a model? 

It’s basically the only way to be a “model.” Without social 

media, there's no way to showcase photoshoots. I, personally 

am not so into social media but you kind of have to 

do Instagram in order to book jobs. 

Any advice for aspiring alternative / tattoo models? 

Just do it! Regular modeling agencies will never take 

tattoo models so you gotta get creative and advertize on 

your own. Never pay for a photoshoot, that’s basically it.

Hey guys, I'm Woody aka Parrotgang. Rapper and Drum N Bass MC, from Gisborne, East Coast to the world. 


For my Hip Hop I’d probably say dark. I write about things I see in the world, in myself, and in others that cause some 

sort of anguish. I guess I find a lot of beauty in it, and what comes from it, what it does to people, and for people. I 

have always and will always love ugly. So I guess I rap about the ugly. In Drum N Bass, I’d say hard hitting hooks, and 

because I basically freestyle on the spot for like two hours to some of the best drum n bass in the world, I’d say you 

would have to see it live and then you can tell me. A ball of Chaos is what the bros call me, and raw energy. Danny bird 

once said I was a cheeky crowd mover. So I guess it’s up to the moment on that one. 

Tell me a little bit about the current tour that you’re on. 

I’m about to hit Northern Bass, Bay Dreams, Electric Avenue Festival, and Homegrown for the festival circuit, and 

once my EP drops, I’ll probably book a release tour. 


Not all musical but, Wu-Tang, PNC, SZA, Big Sean, G-Eazy, Rhymesayers, Stones Throw, Strange Music, Alan Moore, 

Attack On Titan. 6lack, Freddie Gibbs, Anime. Tool, The Gorillaz, MF Doom, Clams Casino, P Money, Alan Moore, 

and 8-16 Bit Video Games… And most definitely The Simpsons I mean, “Don’t Cry For Me” my EP is actually based 

on the short film by Barney Gumble called ‘Pukahontas’ in the episode “A STAR IS BURNS”. It is a black n white noir 

style film about his acceptance of is vice, and he has a line it “Don’t cry for me, I’m already dead” at the end. I was in 

a really dark moment in my life and that came on like an old re run at 2 am and it hit me. So I thought I’d write about 

that emotion. So I recreated it, in real life still photos of myself in Barneys place for the EP art Work, and put my own 

misery and that of others into the music. I even used the Madam Butterfly Sample for the last song Maybe. 

What is the difference, if there is any that you see between hip-hop in NZ and the US? 

I don’t really see a difference, no matter where the music is made, it is all storytelling, or expression, so you are always 

going to have cultural things that will affect that, and sounds from different areas, but really, to me hip hop is just the 

message of the people. But what I have noticed is as a nation we are being recognized now, by America for having our 

own hip hop culture, and great talent out here. You can see that with the co labs that are coming out with artists from 

Aotearoa. From producers, to rappers, to singers. 

How would you describe hip hop culture, its influence, and rap music in NZ? 

I think I accidentally answered this question with the answer to the last question. Sorry. 

If you had a wish list of MC’s to work with, who would be your top 5… in order? 

Fuck (can I say fuck) this is the hardest question ever, and it will probably change as soon as I finish this interview, but 

right now I’d love to fuck withAny of the Wu Tang Clan but probably GZA 

BIG SEAN

Can you tell us about any projects that you are working on and let us know when a new mixtape or single will be dropping? 

“DON’T CRY FOR ME”, is set to release in mid-2018 and will be available on all platforms. 

Any collaboration with other artist on it you want to 

mention? 

The EP has features from Mikey Ellesmere, Rugged 

and Wylde, and Drysdale on the rap front. 

Production wise Patrick Hawkins, Zach Stark, and 

Worthwilde, so that’s pretty cool. 

What direction do you see rap music going in the next 

2-5 years? 

It’s such an evolving culture that I don’t even want to 

predict what it will be like next month lol. 

How do you feel about the new artist, mumble rappers 

and will it be around in the future? And does that even 

have an influence on rap in your country? 

I just see it as another form of the culture and 

whenever I ask people to give me an example of the 

dreaded “Mumble Rap” they can never really give 

me an answer. And most of the people that they do 

give me I can usually figure out what they are talking 

about when I listen them. It all has a place and if it 

influences the kids to express themselves and try a 

craft then go for it, mumble as hard as you can young 

blood. 

What is the next thing on the table for M.C. Woody? 

Well, I got a call from the GZA last week from the all 

mighty Wu-Tang telling me that they have selected 

the first single I released off my EP “F.M.L” to be on 

the next Wu-Tang Mix Tape, made by DJ Symphony. 

So that was a phone call I never expected to have and 

I can’t wait to hear it. That and my EP release, and of 

course the State Of Mind thing going all year round.

where you are from. 

Hey guys! Well for starters the name is Kristen, a.k.a. 

Uni. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, but in 

the last decade I have managed to make Seattle and 

the PNW my home. I'm that girl who's not afraid to 

bust out in full song and dance in the middle of a 

grocery store just to make my friends laugh! Fitness 

is a massive priority in my life. I spend about 5-6 

days a week at the gym, and am currently bulking for 

next years NPC competition season. Batman is my 

superhero of choice, if you don't like him we can't be 

friends, real talk. I love the outdoors, and soaking up 

the beauty that nature has to offer. I also enjoy singing, 

dancing, journaling, and reading. Other than 

that I am a HUGE homebody minus the occasional 

date night with the boyfriend, which usually consists 

of movies, pizza, and junk food! 

You are beautifully tatted. What was your first tattoo? 

Haha, well first off I always laugh at this question! I 

told my parents from the time I was 3 that I was going 

to be covered in tattoos because my dad had two 

small ones. I was 15 when I finally got my first, and 

at that age you really have no concept of what a good 

tattoo is. I had gone to a friends house after school 

one day and this guy tattooed us in her bedroom. I 

ended up getting this silly little, quarter sized, tribal 

sun with a star in the middle. I put it right below my 

belt line so my mom wouldn't see... two weeks later 

she discovered my secret and I was grounded for a 

month! I still have the tattoo. 


Oh goodness... This one is hard for me to answer. I 

honestly have no clue how many tattoos I have because 

so many of them blend together. If I had to take 

a guess I would say somewhere in the mid thirties? 


Without a DOUBT my stomach hurt beyond belief! 

This topic is interesting to me though because honestly 

everyone is different. Many people I have talked 

to said their neck, sides, skull, or face hurt the worst 

and none of those bothered me. My tummy made me 

cry for the first time ever, and at my first session I 

couldn't even finish the outline! It was definitely brutal, 

and the only thing that saved me during my other 

sessions was discovering Hush Anesthetic. I swear 

without that stuff I would still be walking around 

with only half of an outline still. 

Which of your tattoos has the most meaning to you? 

Well I am the type of person who tends to get tattooed 

when I have major things happen in my life. 

So I would have to say most of my tattoos hold really 

deep meaning to me. I look at my body and I can see 

my life story through my artwork, it’s a really beautiful 

thing. 

What inspires you to use your body as a canvas for beautiful 

art? 

Well like I mentioned before, I always knew I wanted 

to be covered in tattoos. I just think it's such a freeing 

way to express the things that make us who we are. I 

love when people ask me about my art, and being able to 

share who I am with others. I love how colorful I am and 

that I have this freedom to decorate my body the way I 

want. I can't imagine it being any other way. 

Up to this point, what has been your favorite photo 

shoot? 

I honestly love every shoot I have done! Each one has 

been so different and fun to create. I just enjoy the process 

and how every photographer is so unique in their 

style of shooting. Every time I finish a new set I swear 

those pics are my favorite, until the next time. I guess it's 

not bad to love it all, I mean if I didn't then what would 

be the point in modeling? 

If you could create you ideal photo shoot, location and 

look, where and what would it be? 

If I could shoot anywhere, I think my first pick would 

be Egypt. To shoot with the pyramids and statues would 

be beyond amazing! I would love to have a custom head 

dress designed; along with some very detailed, futuristic 

Egyptian costume and props. I think that my colorful art 

would stand out amongst the backdrop of the tan desert. 

Of course I would also have to include my hairless 

cat Winston, because what's and Egyptian photoshoot 

without a sphynx? 

What has been the best thing that has come from modeling 

for you? 

The ability to appreciate my own beauty. I have struggle 

with body dysmorphia my entire life, which most people 

don't know. All throughout my childhood and teen 

years, I was a victim to bullying. It really did a lot of 

damage to me for many many years. The more I got into 

shooting, the more I loved it. The ability to escape the 

real world, and create something beautiful. It has definitely 

helped me come to fall in love with the skin I'm 

in. 

If you could pick your ideal occupation, what would it 

be? 

I have always felt like being a nurse would be the most 

fulfilling job! For the last five years I have been working 

in medical and recreational marijuana here in WA. I enjoyed 

it for a long time because I actually got to help sick 

patients in need. When I lost my job recently, I decided 

to go for this dream career of mine. I am currently in 

school for Phlebotomy, and plan to go for my RN as soon 

as I finish this certification. All in all I have just always 

wanted a career when I can help others

What impact or mark would you like to leave on the world? 

Well I am an empath, which means I pretty much have the gift of feeling others emotions and energy constantly. It is 

both a blessing and a curse. I live my life very transparent, and spend a lot of time doing crystal healing and meditations 

to stay centered. I don't like lying and I consciously try to avoid hurting others at all cost. I stay very centered 

in my core values and will not compromise them to conform to others ideals. My only wish is to impact others by my 

example in hopes that people will live more honestly through love and kindness. 

If you could change one thing in the world, what would you make different? 

EASY answer! I would rewind and go back to a simpler time with no social media, and no cell phones. All my friends 

think I'm crazy when I say this, but it's so true! This generation lacks in social skills and human interaction. People 

have become obsessed with others lives instead of living their own. If you go out in public and look around at any 

given point in time it seems as if 90% of people live on their phones. It has become an addiction in our society, and 

seems to be ruining the up and coming generations. I am just as guilty of it at times, which I think is what annoys me 

the most! 

What advice do you have for aspiring alternative / tattoo models? 

Don't listen to anyone else! If you are doing something that elevates your mood and self esteem, then more power to 

you! The truth is people will try to break you down in this industry, and not everyone is friendly. Just remember to 

hold your head high and rise above the drama. Everyone is beautiful in their own special way, and we should all be allowed 

to express that. Follow your dreams whether they are big or small, and remember to do what makes you happy.

Please tell the readers who you are and where you’re from? 

Hey everyone! My name is Brooke Lynne aka @Miss- 

Brooke2U on social media representing that Brooklyn 

Borough but holding it down for state of New York. I'm 

a YNVS recording artist as well as actress, model, fashion 

influencer, published author, radio show host, and 

entrepreneur. 


Musically, I would describe my style as "SAUCY". It's the 

perfect blend of sassy, feisty, subconscious, deliberate, 

and sexy all in one. I like to give my listeners an experience, 

not just records. 


I have a lot of influences! Too many to name here lol. If

What direction do you see rap music going in the next 2-5 

years? 

Honestly, the place that Rap is in right now, it's too hard 

to predict where it'll be in that amount of time. The game 

has been insanely unpredictable for some time now. With 

all of the changes to come, I just hope that New York ends 

up taking the crown back and I end up playing a role in 

that. 

What role do you see the female M.C. playing during that 

time? 

We're finally at a point where the female M.C. is demanding 

more attention that ever. I hate when people say, "Oh, 

there's no females out here doing it" or "There's not that 

many". That's straight BS. We've BEEN here, but in this 

game it takes A LOT for a female to do it, especially on 

her own. Out the gate, you're put in a box and told that 

you either get with the program or no one is going to 

support what you're trying to do. I've been grinding hard 

for the past 5 years now regarding my rap career. And so 

have many other female M.C.'s, even longer than that in 

my own network. SO our triumph is definitely going to be 

huge. We're going to be the ones to bring the authenticity 

back to the game. The substance. The real. 

I’ve been told by a lot of female rappers, and women in 

general, that using their sexuality in their lyrics empowers 

them. With that being said, does it ever get to a point where 

it’s no longer empowering and just raunchy? 

Absolutely. I believe so. Those boundaries are always 

there. But It's all based on perspective. How we each interpret 

it. We live in the day of the millennial generation. 

We do what we want. Confidence in oneself comes before 

a lot. And if that means, getting a little raunchy makes

that person feel empowered, then so be it. I'm not one to 

judge. We all have our own things to bring to the table. 

Everyone is playing a role in the master plan even without 

knowing. 

Lyrically, you go hard. Great metaphors, punchlines and 

hooks. Why, when we are in a place where that seems to be 

the least important thing for rappers to focus on? 

Thank you. I appreciate that. I was raised listening to all 

kinds of hip hop from the 70s and on. I had a lot of older 

and seasoned souls around me that kept me in tune with 

all kinds of genres of music and broke down why each 

song became timeless. When I started writing, that was 

something that always stayed with me. We have to make 

this timeless. Substance is timeless. When something has 

a powerful message, it means so much more. It's something 

to be proud of. Plus, I grew up in the era of "you 

can't sing AND rap, you have to choose one." I WAS AL- 

WAYS TOLD THAT. But I was determined. Plus, I have 

Conan and Shampoo (YNVS) always challenging me to 

go harder ever since they stepped into my life. I have to be 

better than the guys too. Everybody is competition in this 

game and you have to outwork everybody to be successful. 

That's exactly what I plan on doing. 

How do you feel about the new artist, mumble rappers, and 

will they be around in the future? 

I have nothing against them. I don't necessarily prefer 

to listen to them for hours, but I wish them nothing but 

continued success. We're all out here trying to feed our 

families. They found something they were passionate 

about and made it a "thing". I commend that. A lot of the 

examples of mumble rap we have today seem to be good 

businessmen. We might be able to learn a thing or two 

from them. Who knows. But that is definitely a huge key 

to longevity. Being able to conduct good business is a key 

element. 

I’ve never heard a female mumble rapper. Why do you think 

that is? 

I've heard a few. There was actually one that performed 

on Nick Cannon's "Wild N Out" recently. Like I said before, 

we're out here lol. You just have to look. Ask around. 

The streets know what's up. 

I've been listening to a lot of female rappers lately and I like 

them a lot more than most of the male rappers. When did 

girls get so “nice”? 

I don't think women just became "nice" out of nowhere. 

I believe the ear of rap and hip hop has changed and is 

continuing to do so. Now, the game is need of what we're 

bringing to the table. It's simply our time. 

Will they ever receive the recognition that they deserve? 

If we come together and demand it, then sure. But as 

women, most of us are simply “catty” by nature or easily 

influenced to believe that we can’t unify because that 

would take away from our individual shine. 

We become our own demise before even trying. It would 

be beautiful to see such an epic movement though.That 

would speak so much more volume than we are now. 

You have 3 mixtapes that I’m aware of, Dream Alive, Brooke 

Lynne Bound, and Crazy is the New Sexy. How have you 

grown as an artist from the first mixtape to the latest? 

I've grown as a person throughout my career. I've seen 

a lot and I've learned a lot. I learned a little more about 

who "Brooke Lynne" is with each project. I've become 

more comfortable with "her". I used to worry about the 

things that didn't really matter. Who this bar might 

offend, how my parent's might react, and more. But I realized, 

this is the one thing I've ALWAYS done for me. No 

matter how many people told me to find another niche 

or it's impossible, I just could never fully let go. So now 

when I make music, I pour my existence into it. I give my 

all. My music is now the "purest" version of me. No walls, 

no boundaries, just Brooke Lynne. 

What is the next thing on the table for Brooke Lynne? 

We're preparing to release my LP, "SAUCY" at the top 

of 2018. I m beyond excited to get this project out along 

with the docu-series we will be releasing. That's just the 

first on the list for 2018. 

If you could work with any artist in their prime, just 1, dead 

or alive who would it be? 

Michael Jackson. Hands down. I feel like I would have so 

much fun with that experience not to mention how fire 

the record would come out. Plus, everything there is to 

learn from him. That would be something to remember 

forever. 

From where do you draw your inspiration to write lyrics 

and create music? 

Experiences. Sometimes I write about my own experiences 

through someone else's perspective or I'll write about 

someone else's experience through my perspective. Either 

way, it will be something that someone can relate to or 

identify with. 

Who are you listening to right now? 

Brooke Lynne, lol. I've got the crazy tunnel vision right 

now, so I'm constantly listening to my own music to 

perfect it.Outside of that, I listen to more up and coming 

artists than anything now to be honest. Of course my 

label mate, Conan is at the top of that list. Salute all of the 

up an coming artists staying true to the craft. I appreciate 

the music.

Please introduce yourself and tell the readers where you are 

from. 

Hi. My name is Kelly Whitaker and I'm from Orlando, Fl. 

When did you decide that you wanted become a makeup 

artist? 

I didn't exactly choose to be a makeup artist. The opportunity 

arose when I found an ad for an artist in a 

newspaper. When I got to the interview, the job was for 

facepainting at some major theme parks in Orlando, 

Florida. Facepaint turned into bodypaint, then I started 

doing hair as well which led to photoshoots where I could 

do both. 

Where and when did you realize that you had such an 

amazing skill? 

I worked for about 5 years at the theme parks doing facepainting 

and my love for makeup grew. When I moved 

to Utah, I decided to continue pursuing my interest in 

makeup and hair. 

Was special FX / creative make up always what you wanted 

to do? 

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in my life when I was 

younger but I've always been an artist on paper. For me, 

the body is a canvas where I can express my art. 

What came first, the extreme / FX makeup looks or the 

magnificent body painting? 

I first learned to do dramatic facepaint working at the 

theme parks. When I got better some of my coworkers 

introduced me to body painting. 

Where does your inspiration for your ideas come from? 

Inspiration comes from everywhere. Nature, music, 

movies, and social media help to fuel my thoughts. I love 

mixing reality with my imagination to morph ideas into 

something amazing. 

Who are some of the makeup artist that you admire? 

Some artists I admire are on instagram. I love the art from 

mehronboy, mehron girl and paintopia_official. 

Which one is your favorite makeup artist? 

My favorite makeup artists are the Wolfe Brothers. They 

started out at the same company that I did and now they 

are well known in the body painting world and have created 

their own makeup line. 

What has been your favorite creation to date? 

My favorite creation is actually the Christmas skull I’ve 

painted recently. The model was fun and bubbly which 

fed into the piece. The design captures a little bit of everything. 

It’s fun, creepy, sexy and I definitely enjoyed gluing 

on the broken ornaments for a more intricate look. 

How important is social media to you and your career as a makeup artist? 

Social media is highly important for my career as a makeup artist. It gives me a platform to show off my work and also 

helps me to connect with people I might never have the chance of knowing face to face. 

Any advice for aspiring makeup artist? 

My advice for aspiring makeup artists is never be afraid to step out and try something new. I'm antisocial by nature 

but I forced myself to not only connect on social media but to meet people face to face, sell my work and always push 

the boundaries of what I think I can do. Get out of your comfort zone! 


If I could leave one mark on the world it would be that my art would create joy in the people that see it. I also work at 

a hair salon and when my clients sit in my chair, I always think to myself, how can I help them have a better day. Just 

being there to care, listen, and cheer them up makes a big difference in someone's life. It sounds cheesy but I truly love 

people and I want to have a butterfly effect on every person I meet.

where you are from. 

My name is Nicole Elizabeth I am a 24 year 

old model, barber and Makeup artist from San 

Diego California. 


The Saturn on the side of my left wrist : I got 

the tattoo done when I first moved to Los Angeles 

and my life was upside down , the symbol 

itself represents strength, patience, aging , 

resistance and love. 


My very first tattoo was a heart outline on my 

hip done in green cause it was the only color 

my friend had and it was done on his bed in 

his bedroom at the age of 13. The machine was 

home made, Like im talking a guitar string 

and the motor from a disk man ! We thought 

we were so cool . 


I currently have over 60 tattoos but don’t set 

your self on that number because I don’t see 

myself stoping anytime soon. 


All tattoos hurt But I’ve learned my problem 

areas are the ditches. Inside of the elbow , the 

back of my knee cap they were just the worst. 


If I had to pick one it would be my pizza slice 

with The heart around it. I’ll never forget it 

was Friday February 13th and my co workers 

convinced me to get a Friday the 13th tattoo 

after work. but when we got there the line was 

so long I didn’t even get tattooed till 12am. so 

we had to change the number 13 next to the 

pizza slice into a big red heart . I left with a 

Valentine’s Day tattoo ! 

What inspired you to turn your body into a 

canvas of beautiful art? 

Growing up I was always picked on for looking 

and acting different then everyone else around 

me. It wasn’t until I got a little older that I realized 

that being different was actually a good 

thing and that I didn’t want to fit in anymore 

and it inspired me to get more tattoos and to 

become a walking talking canvas. I have and 

always will consider every tattoo on my body 

as a reflection of the good times in my life my 

Artistic being and my originality.

Oh my god yes! 

I love attending tattoo convention the last tattoo convention I attended we traveled 

to and we had our own booth and by the end of that weekend I had met so 

many amazing and very talented people that I could be myself around it was such 

an amazing experience. I highly recommend going to conventions to everyone 

who is into the art of tattooing. I think tattoo conventions and traveling new places 

are at the top of my favorite things to do list. 


I personally enjoy using social media as a platform to market myself and what I 

do. I have made so many friends and connections all over the world because of 

social media. It’s a very important part of my life but only because I have chose 

to make it that way. Who I am on social media is 100% real i run my own pages 

I make my own connections, if it disappeared i think it would be not as easy to 

make all that I do happen but I’d still be the same person doing the same things 

I’m doing now. 


my only advise is to find the best version of you and stick to it be consistent and be 

original because it’s a lot easier to be yourself then to try and be like someone else.

How long have you been a tattoo artist? 

About 10 years 

Do you find that there are any challenges that you face being 

a female artist? Like, do some think that you aren’t good 

because you’re a girl? 

I don’t have anyone tell me that I’m not no good just 

because I’m a female artist. The hardest thing for me, 

however, is knowing that I could easily build my popularity 

by posting bikini photos. I would like to be known on 

the merit of my work. 

Do guy tattoo artist hate on you? 

I feel like the artist that do hate on me regardless of me 

being male or female. It’s funny, I recently had someone 

tell me that a shop in my town said that the only reason I 

get magazine features is because the magazine ran out of 

other people to put in them. 

Do you remember the first tattoo that you ever done? 

I actually sleeved out my legs before I started work on 

anyone 

How would you describe your tattooing style? 

I really like to do photorealism,, but do enjoy line work 

too. So I try to capture photorealism with designs that 

have a lot of line work. 

What is the secret to achieving such detail in your tattoos? 

I believe that to achieve detail you have to pay close attention 

to what you’re doing. A detailed stencil always helps. 

Where is the most difficult place for you to tattoo someone? 

I hate tattooing peoples ribs. I would rather tattoo hanging 

upside down from the ceiling like a bat and tattoo a 

big piece on some ribs. That being said, I have done several 

rib tattoos and they all turned out just fine. 

How may tattoos do you currently have? 

I counted once a couple years ago and it was something 

ridiculous, like 80. 

Did you do any of them yourself? I did a lot of work on 

my legs when I was still learning 

Do your friends let you tatt them up for practice? 

Haha… I don’t need practice. 

Should drunk people get inked? 

No. Drunk people should only run for the President of 

the United States. 

What is the most bizarre tattoo you have ever put on someone? 

I tattooed an entire penis and balls one time. I will include 

the pic, although I don’t know if it’s large enough 

size… no pun intended. 

What tattoo artists, if any, do you draw inspiration from? 

There are so many, it’s hard to only name a few. I really 

like Moni Marino. Moni is probably my favorite. 

What’s the secret to being a great tattoo artist? 

Always be doing some kind of art. Days off are for suckers. 

For a first timer, where should they get a tattoo if they do 

not like a lot of pain? 

I feel like arms are always pretty easy. Outer arms anyway. 

Words of advice for anyone that wants to become a tattoo 

artist? 

Don’t go the cheap route. Spend the money on your 

equipment or you will regret it.

Please introduce yourself and tell the readers where 

you are from. 

Hi. My name is Nikki Gardner aka DJ K. Nikki. 

I'm from Spanish Harlem, NYC, Jefferson projects. 

How long have you been DJing and what inspired you 

to become a DJ? 

I've been dj'ing as a hobby since 1995. I took it seriously 

in 2005 by making my own mix cds and doing 

parties with Derrick Sage of Sage Entertainment. 

At that time, I went by the DJ name, DJ DNA. Once 

I became an independent DJ, I decided to change 

my name. My DJ sister, DJ Shorty Love, suggested 

I change it similar to my author name, K. Nikki 

Gardner. That's how the name DJ K. Nikki was 

born. I have to say first, what inspired me to love 

music was my father. He always sung around the 

house and played his albums so I knew from that, I 

wanted to do something with music. What inspired 

me to DJ was DJ Red Alert. I listened to him on the 

radio almost every day. 

As a female DJ, do you feel any shade being thrown 

your way by your fellow male DJ’s? 

Yes, I do. From some, not all. It's funny that I never 

got shade from my fellow lady DJ's. I think as a 

lady DJ, you have to be the dopest DJ alive, already 

know a lot of people in the industry or have strong 

sex appeal to be accepted. Unfortunately, sex sells 

and at times, for women in a male dominated industry, 

that's what it takes to be respected. 

What are some of the key things that a DJ must know? 

I believe the key things should be knowing how to 

mix well, read the crowd, and knowledge of music. 

How do you know what songs will work in a specific 

setting? 

It all determines on what the crowd consists of. If I 

see mostly younger people, i'll play new school. If 

It's mostly people around my age, i'll play more 80's 

and 90's music. If its a mixture of people, I make 

sure to play a little of everything for them. 

What is the difference in being a radio DJ and a live DJ 

in the clubs? 

Being a radio DJ is more isolated. I can be a little 

more free on what I play. I can cut it up if i want 

to. DJ’ing at a club, I need to make sure I’m moving 

the crowd. That I have music available that people 

might want to hear. Its a little more “work”. 

Speaking of radio, you are the GM of the internet radio 

station werejusrapradio.net. Can you tell us about 

the station format and how you incorporate your DJ 

skill into the programming? 

Yes. We're Jus rap radio is an online radio show that 

plays music 24/7. Whether it’s standard rotation 

of today's and yesterday's music along with a few 

independent artists or different shows that we have 

scheduled throughout the week. Our shows may be 

DJ's spinning music or interviews and talk shows. I

involved as well. I have a show on the station called 

Throwback Thursdays. I'm an old school head so I 

play nothing but old school hip hop, rap and r & b. 

I also see that you are on a few different radio shows. 

Are these a part of the werejusrapradio.net programming, 

or are these different ventures all together? 

Those are different ventures. I DJ for WDEP Radio 

every Tuesdays at 7 pm on nikki's spot with dj k. 

Nikki. I'm with lets be clear radio that airs on I axis 

radio and on ustream every Saturdays at 11am. We 

play music, discuss different topics and do interviews. 

Sometimes i DJ for BlockWorkz radio with 

my team, Dymejays, and with the party train radio. 

What do you like better, DJing in the clubs or on the 

radio? 

I like djing on the radio better. Like I mentioned before, 

I feel free and more relaxed. I'm more myself 

and being on the radio was always a dream of mine. 

Any advice for aspiring DJ’s? 

I would say keep practicing, keep learning and no matter what negative feedback you may get, keep DJ'ing. If you 

can, learn on different equipment so whenever you are faced in a situation, you are prepared. 


Hmmmmm, that no matter what happens to you in life or how old you are, keep striving towards your dream because 

dreams are meant to come true. There is no time limit and there is no obstacle you cannot climb in order to get to it 

and I believe I'm a living example of that.

For now, you can see me at Ponty Bistro Harlem, an African restaurant, on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 1am. It's located

I love art. I oil paint on canvas. Some 

like on their walls, I like art on my body.

They all have their own unique talent.

It is very important to me as a model.

I'm The Support is developed to provide a place for conversation for those who need support for themselves 

after being the support. Sometimes the only support for someone else, no one realizes or takes into 

consideration that there are people that are struggling to deal with the outside world and even their own 

inner circles. One of our main goals is to establish a dialogue with members of the heterosexual community 

that are faced with that situation of standing by a family member or friend that has confided in them.
