AON GUERNSEY
CELEBRATE
40 YEARS
Industry leaders including the Chief Minister
of Guernsey, Gavin St Pier joined Aon staff
and business partners at the Old Government
House Hotel to help Aon Guernsey celebrate
40 years in business.
Aon Guernsey is at the heart of
an insurance sector that forms a
strong pillar of Guernsey’s Financial
Services Sector. The insurance
sector contributes £187,000 per
employee to Guernsey’s GDP
which is 2.5 times the islands
average £75,000 GDP per
employee. ‘We have spent 40 years
at the cutting edge of Guernsey’s
Insurance industry; have 322
entities under Aon Guernsey
Management, and almost a 40%
share of the Guernsey Insurance
Management Market. Our success
is built on our people, our values
and giving our utmost for clients,
colleagues and the community
alike,’ said Paul Sykes, Managing
Director of Aon Guernsey.
Aon Guernsey has gone from
strength to strength, culminating
in winning Business of the Year
at the annual Guernsey Awards
for Achievement in February
2017. Aon’s performance was
recognised for innovation and
growth, employing 28 new
people over a two-year period.
The award judges said, ‘it was
inspirational, a fantastic role
model for Guernsey and how we
(Guernsey) can punch above our
weight on the international stage.’
‘Aon Guernsey’s success could
not have happened without
innovation and responsive
regulators that paved the way not
just for captive insurance but for
insurance linked securities and
commercial reinsurance to evolve
in Guernsey,’ said Paul Sykes.
Demonstrating Aon’s
commitment to the island and to
celebrate 40 years in business,
Aon Guernsey proudly announced
that they are now official principal
sponsor of the Guernsey Ladies’
Rugby Team. Aon plays a leading
role in supporting women’s
rugby worldwide through its
sponsorship of the Irish and
Australian women’s rugby teams
and partnership with the Women’s
Rugby World Cup 2017 in Ireland.
‘We have witnessed how
women’s rugby has evolved to
become a truly global sport that
embodies many of the values
we live and breathe at Aon –
leadership, teamwork, diversity
and integrity,’ said Paul Sykes.
Aon Guernsey plans to further
help and support the growth
of the insurance sector to
ensure our industry continues
to innovate and grow.
Aon Insurance Managers
Global Chief Operating Officer,
John English commented,
‘We are thankful to our clients,
colleagues and business partners
for supporting the Company in
Guernsey over the years and look
forward to working together for
many more years to come.’
AON’S GRADUATE
DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMME
Our philosophy is to employ
people with the right skills and
attitude to help our clients –
giving them the support they
need to develop and enable
them to find opportunities
that play to their strengths.
From earthquakes and meteor
strikes to cyber terrorism and
widespread flooding, the risk of
catastrophes on a global scale
should never be underestimated.
But what happens when the
conventional insurance market
isn’t able to provide the requisite
cover for such occurrences?
These are the types of challenges
Aon Global Risk Consulting
(AGRC) tackles on a regular
basis, by providing a process
to determine the strategy for
achieving the optimal balance
of risk retention vehicles.
The Global Risk Consulting
European Captives Graduate
Programme in Guernsey lasts 18
months and has been designed
to identify and develop the
