ALONE
Forget collective decision making and arguments

2017’s biggest trends in travel – going solo.
With no need to compromise
and the unbridled ability to
do what you want when you
want, all with a liberating
degree of indulgence, it’s no
surprise that solo travel is
more popular than ever.
No longer the reserve of
backpackers roughing it around
the globe, statistics reveal that
more of us are travelling alone,
especially women. All age groups
and personality types are getting
in on the act as more and more
people are discovering the many
pleasures of travelling solo.
Going it alone has the benefit
of gaining total control over your
precious holiday time. That’s right,
you can be completely selfish; you
decide the route, the itinerary, the
budget. Who’s to say you can’t
have ice-cream for breakfast? Or
if you want to take the guided
tour of an obscure museum in a
back alley of a small town without
meeting moans and groans, it's
entirely your prerogative. You
are truly free to create your own
experiences at your own pace,
making solo travel something
more of a personal odyssey.
The thought of jetting off alone
is something that can terrify a
lot of people, but forging a path
in solitude and making your way
through unknown terrain can
actually do wonders for your
self-confidence. People become
the best version of themselves
– more willing to try new things,
and push their boundaries. In
that respect, it might just be
good for overall wellbeing.
