AURIGNY AND ITS
FAMOUS YELLOW
Aurigny’s distinctive yellow
colour has been central to the
airline and its image right from
its foundations.
In fact, originally, Aurigny
sported a distinctive yellow,
red and black paintwork,
chosen by the airline
founder Sir Derrick Bailey.
These colours were picked
because of Sir Derrick’s other
passion – horse racing –
representing the colours of his
racing silks.
Over the years the paintwork
has evolved, as has the fleet,
and the now trademark Puffin
was added to the livery back
in the early noughties.

A YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS
WHAT WE'VE FLOWN
Turtles, monkeys, births,
marriages and the FA Cup.
It’s not just passengers that
Aurigny has carried through the
decades – that’s just the bread
and butter of our operations.
We’ve also flown the coveted
FA Cup, we’ve had a televised
in-flight marriage and carried a
loggerhead turtle called Olivia, but
that’s just in the last few years.
In our time we have also
carried monkeys for Guernsey
zoo, the occasional spotted pig,
many more dogs and cats, and
a whole host of parcels, letters
and special deliveries.
We’ve even had a birth on board
between Alderney and Guernsey,
so it’s fair to say that life stays
interesting for our crews across
the fleets.
As a community airline, we want the whole of the Bailiwick to get
involved in celebrating 50 years of Aurigny.
During the course of the year, we have a host of special activities,
competitions and community events planned.
We are also planning special flights during the year, including a
commemorative recreation of the first ever flight on 1st March, between
Alderney and Guernsey.
Other celebratory activities include a Charity “Aircraft Pull” during the
summer and we also plan to be involved in all the major events in the
Bailiwick calendar including the North Show and Battle of Flowers,
the West Show, the Harbour Carnival and Alderney Week.
As well as this, there will be an island-wide primary schools competition,
community volunteering, and plenty of other activities planned.
