LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
03
Growth is a mindset, it is an ability.
When people say “I can’t grow my market,” I say,
”You know, it is you, not the market.” So I have
to set the stage. I have to set a belief that
growth is something you can achieve & it is only
upto us to make it happen (Larry Bossidy)
“The times they are – a – changing “, sang Dylan.
But, boy, he too would never have guessed how
rapid the changes would be!
What will be the new paradigm? What are the
continuity messages that should be taken
forward & what is the baggage that needs to be
shed? The task now is to define the future.
1 | Credible Leadership
At BFL, E08 employees play a critical role in steering our future as
a business and as an organization, to translate current strategy into
action and be ready to take on larger and strategic leadership
responsibilities keeping the pace with the business complexity and
growth scale.
The organization has decided to focus and amplify 3 Leadership
Expectations – 1) Entrepreneurship mindset, 2) Ownership and 3)
Emotional Intelligence.
This program helps the employees to prepare and elevate
themselves to THINK, ACT and ENGAGE with above mentioned
Leadership expectations.
The program is a curated journey that will involve in-house
dialogues, workshops, projects and many other interventions so
that E08s realize their potential and of the organization by living up
to three Leadership Expectations. The program follows a blended
approach of experiential learning and practical knowledge.
Program SPOC: Henal Malde / Priyanka Mitra
skills of identified high potential employees for their current role
• To upskill high potentials for future roles.
• Creation of a succession pipeline, as decided by the business
The highlight of this intervention is the series of learning
interventions customized to both BFL and business needs, along
with TM teams in businesses.
2 | Ruminate
The acid test of leadership acumen is in managing through times
of change. Can we now take upon ourselves the onus of moving
the organization from where we are to where we need to be? This
is the broad challenge for the Team of Leaders at BAJAJ FINSERV
today.
Ruminate is our flagship program for senior leadership
development. The program follows a format of experiential
blended learning, which includes outdoor activity based learning
and in-room discussions, assessments and group work.
Every Ruminate has a well thought through theme of it’s own
which governs the overall structure of the learning session;
however the underlying agendas has been to enhance synergy
within the senior management team.
In order to create value-added networks both within & with the
external corporation, we now have emabrked to explore how we
can leverage cross company functional strengths & create a
seamless organization that lives & operates by the principle of one
company.
Last year for the first time we extended this learning format to
include senior leadership teams of all the three group companies.
The underlying intent was to support the development of a
common leadership perspective and common leadership
behaviour across the three firms.
We are all set to commence work on this year’s Ruminate . The two
key anchors for the program are agile leadership and emotional
intelligence.
TARGETED
TRAININGS
One of the best ways for an individual to learn &
develop is through the medium of experience
sharing. Through our targeted training interventions
we aim to provide a common platform to
employees where they can discuss the specific
problems and probable solutions to the same.
These programs follow structured frameworks &
guided conversation approach which tries to drive
the correct ways or methodologies through which
the final goals of an employee can be achieved.
E-LEARNING
In line with the organization's digital outlook, e-learning enables us to reach out to our employees quickly, and give
them the essential knowledge and skills required to get started.
05
These courses help the employees from various departments to get familiar with the product, process
and system. Self-paced learning which can be taken anytime and the vast repository of technical
and soft-skills courses available are key highlights of this form of learning.
These courses can benefit in the following ways:
• one time cost in development and the courses can be reused several times
• can train more employees in a short duration of time
• easier to track and assess learning
1 | Think It Speak It
Most of us treat English as a second language due to vernacular
influence. This creates a language barrier and makes it difficult to
converse with colleagues located at different regions in India. Even
those of us who know English, sometimes hesitate to speak up due
to a weak hold over the language. This program has been designed
to coach employees to speak English fluently so that they are
confident enough to take on challenges with confidence.
To know a language, you should be able to speak it, read it and
write it. Speaking is the most important because you cannot read
and write a language without knowing how to speak it first.
This program is unique because the coaching happens through
one-on-one classes/lessons over the phone. This strategy makes
the training convenient and effective.
Program SPOC: Chiquitta D’Mello
3 | SME Underwriting: SAL-PL
The GLA team along with the SME UW team have taken up the
initiative to convert repository for Salaried Personal Loans into a set
of interactive e-learning modules.
The repository originally had screenshots to explain the tools and
checks to be performed by underwriters. Now these e-learning
modules have simulated tutorials and interactive elements to help
learners retain the steps and reasons for all the procedures that are
carried out by underwriters.
The best part about turning the repository into e-learning modules
is that an employee can simply visit the topic of his/her choice in
case of confusion regarding these procedures/step lists.
The user will not only be able to read about the procedure but also
take a look at the procedure’s demo video for better understanding.
Program SPOC: Chiquitta D’Mello
2 | School of Ops | E-learning
Interventions
The School of Ops SOPs are being converted into e-learning
courses with fun elements to make learning interesting and
effective. These procedures are being taught with the help of
digital simulations that are in three different modes:
∙ Show Me Mode: This works as a demo video to show the
learner how a particular process is done.
∙ Try Me Mode: In this mode the learner practices the process that
was shown earlier in the Show Me mode with the help of system
generated call outs and hints.
∙ Test Me Mode: This mode allows the learner to perform the
procedure in the same simulated environment to test if he/she
has understood and learnt the procedure.
These simulated tutorials aim at teaching users to perform
procedures on our BFL systems so that it reduces on-the-job errors.
4 | RPWD
The Rights of People with Disabilities (RPWD) Act of 2016 has been
implemented for the empowerment of people with disabilities and
to give them the freedom to make their own choices by providing
equal opportunities and accepting disabilities as part of the human
diversity. It is important for everyone to know about this policy and
its inclusions so that they stop treating disabilities as a social
welfare concern and start respecting the evolving capacity of
people with disabilities.
This course aims to familiarize our employees with the Rights of
People with Disabilities (RPWD) Act of 2016 and make them
mindful of the facilities and opportunities they can provide to
people with disabilities.
