Greenhouse gas emissions<br />

On average, 1m³ of wood<br />

absorbs 1 tonne of CO 2 and, when<br />

used instead of steel, concrete or<br />

plastic, an average of 0.9 tonnes<br />

of CO 2 per cubic metre is saved.<br />

When looking at our wood<br />

products, greenhouse gas<br />

emissions amount to 57% of the<br />

CO 2 stored in IFO’s lumber and<br />

38% of the CO 2 stored in IFO’s<br />

export logs (2016 data, as shown<br />

below).<br />
