W
ell, the Xmas shopping is done here in
452-land (probably) and it is that time
of year where we snuggle down and
think about the year that has gone before and
all the wonderful music that has passed
between our ears. Something like that anyway.
Whatever the truth of it all, we decided to give
over December to our first Music Awards and so
for the next three issues we’ll be working our
way through the categories before announcing
the winners on the 28 th of December.
This week sees us looking at the contenders for
the Best Single and Best E.P Awards – see what

hen you get to Christmas, there is only one song we
all want to hear.
OK, apart from the Pogues and Kirsty.
And that one that John Lewis did with the dog and the
trampoline, maybe.
However, we should all be able to earn our Snowballs with a
quick bit of Slade, if nothing else, so here you are.

Y the look on your face, I’m guessing you are still in denial
as far as Xmas goes, so OK, maybe Slade was going a little
far, I can see that.
Instead then, why not do something different and learn to play a
little bit of Ska, it isn’t as easy as it looks – be warned.

Ell, we are moving toward the end of the year, and
I’m pleased to say that La Contessa hasn’t gone all
seasonal just yet and has instead stuck to her guns
and dug out some classic tracks for us all to love and enjoy, in a
sober and somehow ecstatically cool way.
