Fresh Stop Port Alfred Mixed
November 11: Despite forecasts
of a strong easterly wind, which
materialised, 26 players pitched
for the draw to be drawn in
three and four-balls to contest
the weekly Freshstop mixed
Stableford alliance competition.
An air of desperation was
apparent with some players
being denied their golfing fixes
by rain earlier in the week.
Winners on the day, handling
conditions superbly, was the
team of Heather van Harmelen,
Glynnis Renecle, Nick
Oosthuizen and Derek Sinclair
with 89 points. Second, and a
little behind, on 85 points were
Sandy Fryer, Lizzie Lambrechts,
Barrie Brady and Paul Fryer.
Conditions did not suit Martin
Time Trial: November 9
Lambrechts, Liz Mangham,
Maureen and Donald McGarvie
and their return of 74 points
was sufficient to earn the
sponsors’ Energade for the day.
The only two-club of the day
went to Martin on the sixth and
Margie Reid collected the bottle
of wine for closest the pin on
the eighth.
Only two sub 70 rounds were
recorded being Bridget McNelis
and Lizzie both with 69’s
therefore Bridget was rewarded
for the best round not in a
winning covey.
