Moderator Bharatbala Filmmaker<br />
Simple emotions and big canvasses mark the working style of this Chennai-born man who has a fresh outlook to filmmaking.<br />
A person who breathes life into his visuals through real places and people, Bharatbala tells Indian stories with a universal sensibility<br />
to a world audience. Having grown up on a diet of international cinema, Bharatbala is deeply influenced by works of David<br />
Lean, David Lynch and Bimal Roy. Like Brazilian director Water Salles and Chinese director Zhang Yimou, who have brought<br />
stories from their countries into the world cinema space, Bharatbala too is passionate about showcasing stories from India to an<br />
international audience.<br />
Shekhar Kapur<br />
Shekhar Kapur is an Indian film director, producer and storyteller. He made his directorial debut with the Hindi film Masoom. His<br />
film Mr. India was a huge commercial success and was declared one of the ‘100 Greatest Indian Films of All Time’. Kapur gained<br />
global recognition with Bandit Queen, which won the National Film Award. Kapur co-created the hit West End show Bombay<br />
Dreams with Andrew Lloyd Webber. He has served as a jury member at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. He is also a digital media<br />
entrepreneur, founding ‘Qyuki’, one of India’s most successful online platforms for young Indian creators.<br />
Vijay Subramaniam<br />
Vijay Subramaniam, director for content at Amazon Prime Video India, is a media and entertainment professional with over 20<br />
years of experience in all mainstream forms of Media - TV, radio, publishing and digital Media. Subramaniam joined Walt Disney<br />
India in 2007 as executive director, media networks, before which he worked at MTV, ENIL- Radio Mirchi, Star India and Stardust.<br />
Subramaniam played a key role in the growth of Disney India’s youth channel Bindass; he steered the launches of successful<br />
shows like The Trip, Girl in the City and Emotional Atyachaar.<br />
Nachiket Pantvaidya<br />
CEO of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd, Nachiket Pantvaidya has P&L responsibility of the company’s operations spanning<br />
content, marketing, distribution and revenues. In his earlier assignment, he was business head of Sony Entertainment Television.<br />
He was also the business head of Star Plus and held several roles in the Star TV network, including head of Star Pravah and<br />
Managing Director of Fox Television Studios. An IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus, he has also held key management roles in BBC and<br />
Disney.<br />
Sameer Nair<br />
A media and entertainment industry veteran, Sameer Nair’s illustrious career spans across three decades with him holding<br />
key positions at leading media houses. Among varied highlights in his career span was the network revamp at Star TV and the<br />
launch of Amitabh Bachchan’s KBC, and the Balaji soap operas on Star Plus. Sameer turned entrepreneur with NDTV Imagine<br />
Ltd. Later, he successfully concluded the sale of NDTV Imagine to the Turner Group, to become the CEO of Turner General<br />
Entertainment Networks. After this, Sameer went on to join Balaji Telefilms Ltd. as its Group CEO devising an expansive strategy<br />
for the company’s foray into digital - their first B2C outreach with ALT Balaji. In August <strong>2017</strong>, Sameer began a new professional<br />
journey to helm Applause Entertainment - a media, content & IP creation studio - promoted by Aditya Birla Group chairman -<br />
Kumar Mangalam Birla.<br />
Karan Anshuman<br />
Karan Anshuman is a writer and director. His first short, Elevator Etiquette, was a pure digital format film – that premiered at the<br />
Digital Talkies festival. The next short – Bhaichara – was invited to the Berlinale Shorts Workshop. He also directed ads and<br />
corporate films for ICICI Prudential, Bombay Dyeing and many more. He worked with Saeed Mirza on multiple docu, feature,<br />
and book projects and also wrote for television. Karan is the co-founder of two digital initiatives: he is the creative director of<br />
Dreamscape Media, an award-winning web and mobile development agency; and co-creator of Upperstall.com, a film portal that<br />
takes a serious look at Indian cinema and rated by TIME Magazine as one of the Top 3 entertainment websites in the world. Karan<br />
was the film critic for Mumbai Mirror for an eventful 3 years.
