Tagore On Celluloid<br />

Moderator - Vani Tripathi Tikoo Producer & Actress<br />
Vani Tripathi Tikoo is one of the youngest ever members of the Central Board of Film Certification. Her campaigns and outreach<br />
programmes as an artist and activist have focused on encouraging women’s participation in politics and bringing the youth<br />
to a universal platform that addresses issues like education, empowerment and employment. As a producer, she has been<br />
deeply involved in programmes related to environment and global sustainability. She has also been closely involved in theatre,<br />
films and television, having worked in India as well as abroad. As an actor, she has about 50 plays, 40-odd TV serials and<br />
six films to her credit. After graduating in political science from Delhi University, she went to the Living Theatre Academy of<br />
Drama and learnt acting under the guidance of the legendary theatre guru Ebrahim Alkazi. The noted theatre personalities Vani<br />
has worked with include B.V. Karanth, Maya Rao, Barry John and Tripurari Sharma. Later, she worked as an actor-teacher at<br />
the National School of Drama’s Theatre in Education Company. She founded the country’s first state government-run drama<br />
school in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Natya Vidyalaya, in 2011. Vani was also attached to journalism and broadcasting in India.<br />
She continues to contribute to Indian newspapers from time to time. She is currently on the Core Committee for the <strong>International</strong><br />
Film Festival of India.<br />
Shoma A. Chatterji<br />
Shoma A. Chatterji is a Kolkata-based freelance journalist, film scholar and author. She contributes to around a dozen print media<br />
and online publications. She has won two National Awards for Best Writing on <strong>Cinema</strong> - for Best Film Critic in 1991 and for Best<br />
Book on cinema in 2002 along with several other awards and fellowships. She has authored 24 books of which most are on Indian<br />
cinema. Her latest, Woman at the Window (Harper-Collins India), deals with the material universe in Ray’s films adapted from<br />
Tagore’s stories.<br />
Pablo Cesar<br />
At the age of six he began to project comics, at 10 he wrote and printed his first bulletin that he sold at the Champagnat School<br />
where he was studying and in nearby kiosks. In 1975, his older brother gave him a video camera that he used intensively and<br />
two years later he scripted and made his first short film of 7 minutes, followed by others. In 1980, for his short film Del genesis, he<br />
was awarded the first prize in the “Experimental” category in the contest of the Ateneo Foto-Cine Rosario, in addition to earning a<br />
mention for Best Editing and Third Prize (without category) in the contest of the Circle of Filmmakers Marplatenses and a Special<br />
Mention of UNCIPAR. For his film De los caras de los espejos, Cesar won the First Prize of UNICA, the Amateur <strong>International</strong> Film<br />
Union in 1983. He was a jury at the festivals of Amiens (France), Montreal Young Film Festival (Canada), Kelibia (Tunisia), Huy<br />
(Belgium), Hyderabad (India), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Villa Carlos Paz and Buenos Aires. Since 1992 he is a professor at<br />
the Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires. He was a pioneer in film co-productions between Argentina and Tunisia (Equinoccio,<br />
The Garden of Roses, 1991), India (Unicorn, The Garden of Fruits, 1996) and Mali (Aphrodite, The Garden of Perfumes, 1998).<br />
These three films were mostly based on folk myths from each of the countries where they were filmed.<br />
Raima Sen<br />
Raima is an Indian film actress. Her breakthrough role came when she starred in Rituparno Ghosh's film Chokher Bali and the<br />
critically acclaimed hit in 2005 Parineeta. 2014 saw Sen as the leading lady in the critically acclaimed Hrid Majharey, the first<br />
Bengali movie based on the works of William Shakespeare, and presented as a tribute on the 450th year of birth of the Bard. Her<br />
other works include the action thriller Dus and the Bengali film Antar Mahal, The Bong Connection, Manorama Six Feet Under<br />
and the hit Bengali film Baishe Srabon.<br />
Moon Moon Sen<br />
Moon Moon Sen began her career as a journalist and film critic and later taught as a graphic designer before embarking on a<br />
successful cinematic journey. As an actress, she has worked in more than 60 films in 22 languages and countless TV serials.<br />
For over 6 years, she has been an active part of the Bengali "jatra", an ancient form of folk theatre with its roots in religion and<br />
mythology.
