Biennale College <strong>2017</strong> Venezia<br />

This year, for the very first time the <strong>International</strong> Film Festival of India (<strong>IFFI</strong>) brings to you films of<br />

the oldest film festival of the World, Venice <strong>International</strong> Film Festival.<br />

The films of ”BIENNALE COLLEGE <strong>2017</strong> VENEZIA” segment of the Venice <strong>International</strong> Film<br />

Festival will be screened in this 48th edition of <strong>International</strong> Film Festival of India, <strong>2017</strong>.<br />

Biennale College is the project of La Biennale di Venezia which is dedicated to the formation of<br />

young people in the artistic field and in the activities of the organizational structure of the Biennale.<br />

Thus, Biennale College of <strong>Cinema</strong> was formed to inspire and promote the young budding film<br />

maker.<br />

This year, four films from La Biennale di Venezia would be screened, namely, Beautiful Things<br />

directed by Giorgio Ferroro (Italy), where the director gives us a sneak peak of the men who<br />

are monks in temples of steel and concrete carrying out their mechanical rituals in silence and<br />

solitude, Martyr directed by Mazen Khaled (Lebanon) gives us the exploration of the journey of life<br />

and death of a man who drowns and becomes a Martyr in Islamic religion and Strange Colours<br />

directed by Alina Lodkina (Australia), a story about a father and a daughter mending a fractured<br />

bond. The fourth film from this package is an Indian film Mukti Bhawan directed by Shubhashish<br />

Bhutiani, showcasing another father-son relationship where the father has a desire to go and die<br />

in the holy city of Varanasi in India and the son is left with no choice.<br />

The young aspiring film makers of India would be both inspired and motivated by seeing films of<br />

BIENNALE COLLEGE <strong>2017</strong> VENEZIA 74 in <strong>International</strong> Film Festival of India this year.<br />

It is only when film festivals collaborate, cinema as an art form is celebrated in the world.<br />
