Karl Marx, aged 26, embarks with his
wife Jenny on the road to exile. In 1844
Paris, he meets Friedrich Engels, an
industrialist’s son, who investigated the
birth of the British working-class. Engels,
the dandy, provides the last piece of the
puzzle to the young Karl Marx’s new
vision of the world. Together, between
censorship and the police’s repression,
riots and political upheavals, they will
lead the labour movement during its
development into a modern era.

Raoul Peck
Raoul Peck (born 1953) is a Haitian maker of both
documentary and feature films, and a political activist.
From March 1996 to September 1997, he was Haiti’s
Minister of Culture. His film I Am Not Your Negro about
the life of James Baldwin was nominated for an Oscar in
January 2017.
