Which preconditions have to be
met?
For certification as a BAUER PureAir station, you have
to fulfil four preconditions:
1. You commit yourself to use original BAUER filter
cartridges. Manufacturing of these cartridges under
industrial conditions guarantees a consistent standard
of quality.
2. You monitor the air quality of your BAUER filling
centre using an internal or downstream SECURUS filter
monitoring system, thus preventing exceeding the
service life of the cartridge.
3. You arrange for the correct installation of the compressor
unit according to the operating instructions.
Consequent observance of these regulations prevents,
for example, the intake air being contaminated with
carbon monoxide exhausted from a combustion engine.
4. You agree to the annual inspection of your filling
centre acc. to DIN EN 12021 by an authorized BAUER
PureAir partner.

The in-house filling of our filter cartridges ensures
perfect air flow for optimal air purification. Original
filter cartridges from BAUER are filled using only
high-quality materials optimally mixed. Then, each
single cartridge is vacuum-packed, sealed and checked

What does a breathing air
purification system have to achieve?
Compressors from BAUER rank among the safest breathing
air compressors worldwide. They are equipped with
proven purification systems which often clearly outperform
the required safety limits of the standard DIN EN
12021. Original BAUER filter cartridges are filled using
only high-quality materials at the optimal mix, vacuumpacked
and subsequently checked for leakage.
The standard filter cartridge prevents water or oil from
penetrating into the breathing air during air compression.
For compressors with combustion engines, a special
cartridge is offered, which avoids a critical carbon
monoxide content being aspirated from the exhaust
gases. Diving centres applying for certification in
compliance with the BAUER PureAir standard have to
equip their breathing air filling centre with a BAUER
SECURUS purification system.

How does SECURUS keep your
breathing air pure?
The slightest risk is too high. Therefore, each BAUER
PureAir station has to be equipped with SECURUS, the
patented filter monitoring system from BAUER. SECURUS
indicates in due time when the cartridge has to be
changed and cuts off the unit automatically as soon as
the cartridge is saturated. In contrast to conventional
systems, SECURUS measures the humidity content of the
compressed air already in the cartridge. This excludes two
of the main causes for polluted breathing air: use of
self-filled filter cartridges and belated exchange. As the
unit only cuts off as soon as the filter is saturated, every
cartridge can be completely used - a premature exchange
for safety reasons is made unnecessary. Thus, SECURUS
offers you not only safety, but also additional economic
efficiency.

How do you install your compressor
unit correctly?
The first step to the BAUER PureAir certification of
your diving centre:
1. The floor must be even, dust-free and suited for the
weight and vibration loading imposed by the compressor.
2. The intake hose - maximum length 3 m, kink-proof
and with sufficient section - has to be suspended high,
dry and facing against the wind.
3. Cooling air flow of the fan and wind point in the
same direction.
4. Perfect air intake and exhaust air during compressor
operation have to be guaranteed. Exhaust gas must in
no circumstances be re-aspirated. Particularly, proximity
to heavily trafficked roads has to be avoided.
5. Breathing air compressors powered by combustion
engines may only be installed in a sufficiently ventilated
room without public access.
6. The ambient temperature has to be between 5 °C
and 45 °C.

How do you become a BAUER PureAir
station?
You wish to become one of the PureAir stations?
If you are operating a BAUER filling centre with SECURUS
monitoring system, you can apply for BAUER PureAir
certification. Only authorized BAUER partners with
successfully completed PureAir training in the BAUER
headquarters in Munich are allowed to award this
certificate. The inspection verifies the correct installation
and the air quality of the compressor unit. The water
content as well as the oil, carbon dioxide and carbon
monoxide concentrations within the breathing air is
measured acc. to DIN EN 12021. This European standard
defines the purity of the compressed air for breathing
equipment. The correct observance of the maintenance
intervals is also checked, and the result is registered in
a test log. A positive result will lead to your diving
centre being certified. Your certification is valid for one
year maximum. Thereafter, you will require further
visits from quality controllers at regular intervals, at the
latest after 12 months. This procedure ensures that
BAUER PureAir is the worldwide seal of quality for
diving centres using BAUER units.
