HERE ARE A FEW OF THE FAVORITE LOCAL SPOTS
IN THE COCOA BEACH AREA FOR VIEWING
MANATEES IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT.
CANAVERAL LOCK • Mullet Rd., Cape Canaveral
The lock is located just north of the Port Canaveral entrance, not
far from Jetty Park. Early evening and late afternoon are the best
viewing time for wildlife. Boat cruises are available through the
Canaveral Locks and the scenic waterways of the area. Along the
way you can observe dolphins, manatees, alligators and a variety of
native birds from your tour boat.
MANATEE SANCTUARY PARK • 701 Thurm Blvd., Cape Canaveral
Located right by the Radisson at the Port Resort, Manatee Sanctuary
Park is a hidden treasure for viewing manatees, dolphins and birds
up close. Surrounded by mangroves and plants, you will find a lovely
cove where the manatees like to sun.
MANATEE COVE PARK • 4905 N. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island
This is one of the best places on the east coast to see manatees.
Keep on the look-out for egret, heron, pelicans and osprey.
