Until 1996 the industrial activity in Portugal had, as its main focus, development of
the public works construction sector, covering all branches of civil engineering:
bridges, roads and motorways, hydraulic works, construction, underground works,
dams and sanitation. As of 1997, the industrial activity included concession
contracts, with the incorporation of the following companies:
Autoestradas do Atlântico, S.A. - concessionaire of the West Zone of Portugal;
Oesterota - Concessões Rodoviárias de Portugal, S.A. - for the preparation of
proposals in the concessions;
SDMH - Mini-Hydro Development Company, S.A.
SPER - Portuguese Society for Construction and Road Exploration, S.A.
RAL - Routes of the Algarve Litoral, S.A.
The main company of the group, from which developed the
various subsidiaries and branches around the world (Angola
ENGENHARIA, S.A.
Branch, Mozambique Delegation, Cape Verde Branch,
Botswana Branch, Senegal Branch, Zambia Branch, branch
of Malawi Branch, Gabon Branch).
