Focusing on Bangladesh Conventional Bridal
Here in Bangladesh, we are rooted in tradition
yet there is diversity seen in every realm of life,
starting from food and customs that are reflected in
Bangladeshi marriages. Describing all the nuances
of the country’s wedding traditions in a single piece of writing
would truly be a Herculean task. This article is a modest attempt
at giving a glimpse into the colorful and cultural extravaganza
that is the Bangladeshi wedding.
In our culture, marriage symbolizes not just the sacred union
of two individuals, but the alliance of two families and extended
relations as well. Their level of involvement is so profound that
typically the family decides the bride/groom. In fact, even till a
few decades ago the bride and the groom saw each other for the
first time only on their wedding day. This trend has changed in
urban areas, and in the present day, the younger generation has a
better say in choosing their life partner.
The Bangladeshi wedding has gone through a metamorphosis
of change in all aspects, whether cultural, social or in artistry of
design. The subtleties that defined our heritage weddings are now
presented in globalised scales and styles. One can no longer be
confined to local ideas as the world is our new design inspiration.
We should not abandon but rather preserve and nurture our
cultural norms that connect us to our ethnic origins. Mirror try
to focus on every little detail of your partner, this will help both
to prioritize each other. Try to avoid gloomy conversations rather
make your moment more romantic and enthralling. Stay exotic
and be proud of who you are.
“The Mirror Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine” has always tried to
emphasize on the significant festivals and contemporary carnivals.
Over the years, it has taken its pride of success and gratification.
This time it guarantees to introduce you with tremendous
wedding Jewellery, apparels, honeymoon tourism and moreover,
it acknowledges you with “Mirror Wedding Planners.”
The inaugural ceremony of the
2nd solo painting exhibition of
artist Avi Shankar Ain titled Mangrove
Portal has begun La Galerie, Alliance
Française de Dhaka. The inaugural
ceremony of the exhibition was held
recently in the city.
Ms. Julia Niblett, Australian High
Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr.
Anisul Hoque, Writer, Ms. Nazia
Andaleeb Preema and Mr Syed
Mahbubur Rahman, CEO and
Managing Director of Dhaka Bank
of the exhibition.
Enraptured by the different landscapes
of Bangladesh, artist Avi Shankar Ain
travelled and researched nature’s
beguiling beauty to find inspiration
for his canvas. He stopped at the
south-western end of Bangladesh
and found Sundarbans with panoply
of spotted deer. That was beauty
like no other! Even when on one
side natural calamities are gnawing
at the forestry and on another side
man-made machinations of harm
are eating away years and years of
biodiversity, Sundarbans and the
spotted deer had ignited something
in Ain. His canvasses found the
spotted deer browsing in the midst
of the mangroves’ tangled roots and
thickets above ground, boasting
their branched antlers. Ain employed
acrylic media to elucidate his artistic
passion for the beautiful forest and
viewers are sure to be presented with
a unique take on Sundarbans.
Avi Shankar Ain was born on February
8th, 1982 in Dhaka. As a part of his
solo exhibition in 2012 at La Galerie,
Modern Bengali Brides
Trends 2017
The modern woman is
making a stylish splash,
wherever she goes by
opting for tasteful elegance
in place of overstated boldness.
And going by the Monsoon 2017
collections, the trend of fashion
minimalism is definitely here to
make you fall in love.
While it may be the biggest
oxymoron in the fashion world,
minimalism is fast making place in
the Bengali bridal space too. Today’s
bride embraces her traditions with
grace and panache. While the big
Bengali wedding culture is far from
being passé, many modern brides
are going minimalistic for their prewedding
functions and ensembles.
Minimalism isn’t just for the modern
western-fashion loving girls, but
for the modern Bengali brides too.
To demonstrate exactly how a bride
can nail the minimalism trend at
her wedding
With pre-wedding functions
becoming almost as important as
the wedding day itself, the modern
Bengali bride is making a style
statement by blending the dazzle
with minimalistic subtlety. Teaming
a jazzy lehenga with a subtle choli
mirror 30
or opting for a dupatta that has
heavy embroidery is in vogue these
days. Shararas, which are low on the
dazzle are fast becoming a popular
choice for modern brides.
Jackets teamed with kurtis and
skirts, crop cholis teamed with plain
high waist lehengas, sari gowns,
and Victorian lehengas are some of
the traditional choices that allow
you to stand out. A-line dresses
with cap sleeves and off shouldered
gowns are also making an entry into
Bengali bridal fashion, with brides
increasingly donning them at prewedding
functions.

TRENDY DENIM CUT FOR THE RIGHT PERSON
It doesn’t get much more iconic
than a great pair of jeans. Which
makes sense: They’ve been a
staple of pretty much every guy’s
wardrobe for more than a century.
Thing is, what makes a pair of jeans
great is different for everyone. Maybe
you’re looking for a go-to pair for the
office. Maybe you’ve got a traditional
streak and want something that pays
homage denim’s golden age. Or maybe
you just want to look cool.
When it comes to jeans, your
mileage may vary. That’s where we
come in. Whatever you’re looking
for and whatever you’re into, we’ve
broken down the four key jeans fits for
2017. Read on to find the right one
for you.
THE TRADITIONALIST
If you’re looking to channel
the timeless style of guys like
1960s to 1970s, why not take
a page from their era of denim
and try a slightly slimmeddown
straight cut? It should
have a little more room in the
hips and thighs, but not so
much that it bags out from the
body. The width at the knee
should be just around the same
as the width at the ankle. And
if you really want to stay ontheme,
a cuff—all the better to
show off the selvage lines on
your raw denim—is the way
to go.
SHOP STRAIGHT FIT
JEANS
Just want a great pair that
you’re sure will fit in at your
(not-too-dressy) office? Go
with the modern standard
that works for pretty much
every body type and situation:
the slim fit. Tailored but not
tight is the name of the game
here. The jeans should be
trim through the hips and
thighs, and skim your knees
and calves without strangling
them. (If you can see your
muscles flex, you’ve gone
too far.) A narrower hem sits
nicely on top of everything
from minimal sneakers to
classic dress shoes.
THE ROCKER
Skinny jeans have
always been steeped in
rebel cool. The key here is
going super-slim but not
legging-level skintight.
Look for a pair that hugs
your frame from the hips
all the way down to the
leg opening. Feel free to
go with a longer inseam
if you want the leg to
stack on top of your
footwear or shoot for
something a little shorter
to keep the lines nice and
clean.
THE THROWBACK
Right now, one of the
most forward-thinking
moves you can make is to
look to the past when it
comes to fit. Think denim
in its mid-’90s heyday, just
tweaked for the modern
age. The cuts are looser
through the hips and
thighs, but avoid falling
into dad-jean territory with
a cropped and tapered fit.
You’ll either want to hem
or roll to get the right
length—you could even
cut them off to a raw hem
right above the ankle,
depending on how you’re
feeling.
Here are some handy makeup tips and essentials
to achieve the best results on your D-day.
1. Cleansing the Face
Bangali brides love to use bold and bright colors
for their marriage ceremonies. In order to obtain
a long-lasting look, you should start by cleansing
your face well and then patting it dry to ensure
that there are no traces of dirt or oil on the face.
2. Base Preparation Tips
Moisturize your face for a smooth appearance and
an even skin tone. Amidst working extensively on
the face alone, do not forget to moisturize using
your fingertips by rubbing well in a circular
and gentle motion. You could even use a tinted
moisturizer.
3. Blush Tips
Take some blush on a blush brush and pat the
excess off. Hold a steady smile and apply it in a
circular motion, blending it upwards, towards the
ears.
4. Eye shadow and Eyeliner Tips
Paint your eyelids with a gold or peachy pink
shade, and use some charcoal shadow on the
exterior lid contours to give a subtle, Smokey
effect. You can achieve this by using a brown
shade on the inner crease area. You can also use
golden eye shadow instead of silver for the brow
bones. Use an eyebrow pencil or an angular brush
dipped in brow powder for the eyebrows. Do not
experiment with brown or blue liners on your
wedding day. It’s better to use a plain and simple
jet-black liner, preferably waterproof. Draw a thick
line on the top and a heavy line with a strong kajal
on the lower eyelid, smudging it till the outer
corner for that extra oomph.
