Today we will have a tour through Granada, was founded in
1524 by the conquistador Hernández de Cordoba. Once the
business and shipping capital for the entire region, today
Granada proudly remains as one of the last and truly colonial
cities: an undiscovered jewel. We will visit the most important
monument as: the Casa de los Leones, San Francisco Convent
and the Museum, with its vast exposition of pre-Columbian
statutes and pottery. Then we’ll visit the Isletas; when the
Mombacho Volcano erupted, huge rocks shot to Lake Nicaragua.
As a result of this violent eruption 365 small Islands Opposite
to Granada formed. The Isletas varies in size and shape,
all the islands have a flora and fauna of the most exuberant,
enriched by the presence of water birds and see a colony
of monkeys living on a small island and who, out of curiosity,
render themselves visible with focus of the boats. In the afternoon,
we will drive to the amazing Laguna de Apoyo, for lunch.
Laguna de Apoyo had a unique creation, as 23,000 years ago a
volcano exploded and formed the crater which now hosts the
6 kilometers wide lake. It holds some of the most beautiful
water in Nicaragua and is surrounded by forest-covered hills
making it a secret paradise, untouched by time.
