Shelley Cavanna
Designer of
Shelley is a self-taught quilter and was
bitten by the quilting bug in 2007 when her
husband bought her first sewing machine.
She quickly discovered that quilting was in
her blood, and opened her first independent
design company under the banner of Poplun
Designs. In 2013, she decided to re-brand
and re-opened as Cora’s Quilts.

Weeks Ringle
& Bill Kerr
Designers of
Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr are professional
quiltmakers and co-founders of Modern Quilt
Studio, a design studio in Oak Park, Illinois.
Bill and Weeks are pioneers of the Modern
Quilt Movement having written the first
book on Modern Quilting, The Modern Quilt
Workshop. Other books of theirs include
Quiltmaker’s Color Workshop, Quilts Made
Modern and Transparency Quilts. They
co-authored the best-selling A Kid’s Guide
to Sewing with their daughter Sophie.
The Dot Crazy publication includes inspirational
photographs and well-illustrated patterns for the
five quilts shown here and is printed on heavy,
high-quality paper.

Weeks made her first modern quilt in 1987
to rethink the possibilities of the American
quilt as being expressive of the time in which
we live. Having sewn since he was 8, Bill
began designing and making modern quilts
in 1995. They have been making modern

their studio in 1999.

In 2011 they launched Modern
Quilts Illustrated, the first
magazine exclusively dedicated
to modern quilting. Their work has
appeared extensively in the
international press including
American Patchwork & Quilting,
Quilts Japan, Patchwork
Tsushin, Japan’s Quilt Time,
Australian Quilter’s Companion,
Dwell, O:The Oprah Magazine,
TIME, The New York Times, and
Country Living.
Their work has been shown
throughout the US, France and
Japan including an exhibit of 28
quilts at the Wisconsin Museum of
Quilts and Fiber Art.
Bill and Weeks both have graduate design
degrees and have taught modern quilting
throughout the US, Canada, Australia, Japan
(in Japanese) and France (in French). Weeks
teaches online classes for Craftsy and iquilt.
com and writes the blog Craft Nectar

Their quilts will be featured in the upcoming
show 10 Best Modern Quilters, which will
travel throughout Japan in fall 2017.

Christa Watson
Designer of
Christa began her love of quilting in 1994 when a group of church friends
invited her to tie quilts for charity. It was love at first stitch. Christa lives and works in
Las Vegas, Nevada where her husband and 3 kids all think it’s normal to have a house
full of fabric!
Christa is the author of two machine quilting books and she loves helping others
discover the joy of quilting their own quilts! She considers herself to be a perfectly
imperfect quilter and she enjoys the look of hand-crafted quilting.

to the right side of QUILT CENTER. Then sew (1) D 2 ½” x 44
½” strip to top and (1) to bottom of Quilt Center.

Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides.
Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin.
