As we embark on our
journey through the final
few months of 2017 it is
also with a tinge of sadness
and nostalgia that I remind
you that this is also the
very last time our school
will start the new term on
the same campus.

the excitement is tangible
amongst our staff, learners
and parents.

Dear Parent/s,
I sincerely hope that you
have enjoyed a welldeserved
rest and that
you were able to spend
some quality time with
your children.
As you would have seen,
I am setting certain
standards in place
even if they are in baby
steps and I urge you
as a parent to help me
cement these standards
as the norm. We as a
school were blessed with
a matric farewell of note
and I would like to thank
everyone that played a
part in making it a huge
success.
Academics are the main
focus in the final term, but
we have the Lente liedjie
competition as well as the
highly anticipated Staff
concert approaching.
Many learners flourished
in the Toastmasters
course the last term
and I would like to
congratulate all learners
involved in completing
the Toastmasters course.
Well done to our u/15
cricket side on a very
exciting season. The
same age group will be
participating in the Jaru
7’s tournament. We hope
they will come back with
“Mission accomplished”.
We will have our
matric valediction and
final assembly in the
upcoming week as
stated in the circulated
term planner. In knowing
that, I would like to thank
all the grade 12 learners
and staff that attended
summer school and urge
every role player to put in
the final effort at school
until 20 October
2017. Hard work will be
rewarded.

Welcome back after the
October holiday. I trust that
you and your family rested
well and are ready for the
last term. The hourglass is
quickly running out on the
2017 school year.
Our annual soapbox
derby was, once again,
a mammoth success.
Without the support of you,
our parents, it would have
been impossible to reach
the target of R115 000. I am
proud to announce that an
amount of R 120 000 has
been raised. These funds
will be used to improve
our school premises and
facilities to the benefit of
the learners.
As promised to our grade
R to 7 learners, there will
be no school on Monday,
30 October, as they
have reached the target
amount. Please make the
necessary arrangements
timeously.
The grade 3 learners are
hard at work, preparing
themselves for the
Intersen phase. They have
started changing classes
within their small circle of
educators and even have
a roster. It is wonderful
to see the excitement
amongst the group of
grade 3 learners!
We are super proud of our
u.11 and u.13 cricket teams
and wish them good luck
for the quarter finals of the
Northerns Small Schools
league.

We were privileged to host
various workshops dealing
with the sensitive topic of
“Bullying”. The workshops
were presented by the
very competent facilitators
of the “Life Talk” Forum.

positive.

Curro Roodeplaat would like to wish the best of luck to every learner
with the term’s upcoming sporting items. It is a new term and we
will be taking it on eagerly.
Congratulations to Amogelang Tshoagong and Adam Cannata
whom participated in the final round of the u/11 Titans cricket trials.
We believe and trust that we will be receiving positive feedback
with regards to these learners.
Soapbox 2017
We want to thank every learner, staff member and parent who
contributed to making this day a huge success. It was a day filled
with excitement, fun and of course a lot of mud. A special word
of thanks to Mr Niemand and Ms Theunissen who accepted the
challenge to be pushed through the mud after we reached our
target of R115 000. This memory will always be treasured in every
Roodie’s heart.

Castle adventure
Dear Parent,
It is the last tem of 2017!
Christmas dreams of
presents will soon come
true, as Christmas is
around the corner. What
a beautiful year this has
been, with so many
blessings so far!
We are practicing very
diligently for our concert
and the anticipation
and excitement in the
air are tangible. Please
make sure to book your
tickets from Monday 16
October. Tickets will be
on sale from 12:30 to
13:30 in the afternoons
in Veronica’s office. If
you are not able to be
here at these times,
please put your money
in an envelope with your
name and your child’s
name and grade written
on it. You can then collect
your tickets the next day.
Thank you in advance
for your support in this
matter.
We are hosting Grandpa
and Grandma Day
on 20 October. We
kindly request that only
grandparents attend
this day. Please ensure
to book their tickets at
R50 per person. We are
planning to treat them with
snacks from 07:30 until
08:00. Their special, V.I.P
concert performance will
start promptly
at 08:00.
Grandparents
are welcome to
take their stars
home after
their thrilling
performance.
