hunder Mountain <strong>Co</strong>unty Park is the highest point in <strong>Marinette</strong> <strong>Co</strong>unty and<br />
provides breathtaking views and scenic trails. The trails are well-maintained and<br />
excellent for hiking. The Long Slide Trail System was developed as part of the<br />
<strong>Co</strong>unty Forest Wildlife Habitat Program. It is a system of old logging roads and<br />
wildlife openings which are closed to vehicular travel. Featuring beautiful rock<br />
outcroppings visible from the trails, this system also has a lowland cedar swamp<br />
along the eastern border of the system. The Lake<br />
Mary Trail is a loop that is located in the smaller block<br />
of county forest northeast of Lake Noquebay. It runs<br />
through an aspen forest which is completely<br />
surrounded by a lowland cedar swamp. Also part of<br />
the <strong>Co</strong>unty Forest Wildlife Habitat Program, the<br />
Peshtigo River Trails are intended to provide a serene<br />
area to hike, observe nature, wildlife and hunt.<br />
Directly west of Goodman Park in Northwestern<br />
<strong>Marinette</strong> <strong>Co</strong>unty this system totals almost 9 miles. Hemlock Curve Nature Trail is<br />
perfect for families and is part of the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area Trails Project.<br />
The Frog Slough Loop is approximately 1.1 miles in length and Deer Trail Loop is<br />
slightly smaller at 1 mile. The trail leads you through the forest beside the scenic<br />
Peshtigo River and past a grove of hemlocks. Morgan Park Walking Trail is a hike<br />
around beautiful Timm's Lake where you can view the breathtaking scenery or watch<br />
the ducks and loons swim in Loon Bay. A moderate hike, but well worth the scenic<br />
beauty. Riverside Park Trail System has a series of trails following the banks of the<br />
Menominee River. Located in the city of Niagara, meaning "thundering waters", these<br />
trails feature bluff views and the wooded beauty of all four seasons. Governor<br />
Thompson State Park consists of over 2800 acres on the Caldron Falls Flowage.<br />
Head off the beaten path to find the picturesque granite outcroppings, birds and<br />
animals of the area. Peshtigo River State Forest is<br />
comprised of various loops that provide a variety of<br />
distances and extremely steep hills, breathtaking<br />
views of the river and quiet serenity except for the<br />
rush of the Peshtigo River. Seagull Bar at Red Arrow<br />
Park is located in the City of <strong>Marinette</strong> on the shores<br />
of Green Bay; Red Arrow Park has picnic and play<br />
areas and a sand beach to compliment the nature<br />
trails.<br />
