The Pride of Victorians
2017-18
Vol 01
Part 01
News Magazine
Victor Gaurav’ is an initiative by Team VPS to reflect the half yearly school
activities. It will help us know the scale of our scorers and scope of improvement.
We believe in, ‘We are, what we do.’ So we are trying to raise our standard year
after year.
It gives me immense pleasure to see you all learning as students, growing as individuals
and developing into citizens of the world. School gives you the safety and the freedom to
inquire and explore the possibilities the world has to offer. At Victor we are trying to
provide not only academic knowledge but a whole range of educational op-opportunities
as every student's learning is unique.
"We are only limited by our imagination."
Dr. V. P Panchal
Chairman
“From the Desk of Principal”
Life is an momentum…
If your world looks gloomy
and you are feeling grin and glum,
Make a rainbow for yourself,
Don't wait for one to come,
Don't sit watching at the window
for the clouds to part
There'll soon be a rainbow if
you start one in your heart.
We are really proud and exuberant to acclaim that we are ready with all new hopes and
hues to bring out the First issue of our school News Letter, 'Victor Gaurav ', which will
surely unfold the unravelled world of the most unforgettable and precious moments of
the school. The elaborative explanations of the school events are indubitably sufficient
to hold the interest and admiration of the readers. This is indeed a devout attempt to
make our budding talents give shape to their creativity and learn the art of being aware
because I believe that our success depends upon our power to perceive, the power to
observe and the power to explore. We are sure that the positive attitude, hard work,
sustained efforts and innovative ideas exhibited by our young buddies will surely stir
the mind of the readers and take them to the surreal world of unalloyed joy and
pleasure. We have put in relentless efforts to bring excellence to this endeavour. Helen
Keller rightly says that, “the world is moved along not only by the mighty shoves of its
heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker”. This
herculean task of editing this school News Letter would not have been possible without
the sincere support of the members of the Editorial Board who had a vigil on all the
school activities, compilation of information and edited them and finally made a fair
draft of them. I am thankful to all my colleagues who dipped their oars into the
turbulent water of the journal and have sailed it to the shore of publication. It is a fine
thing to have ability but the ability to discover ability in others is the true test.
I heartily wish all the readers my best wishes and hope this magazine will enjoy your
critical acclaim and prove itself to play a vital role in the all-round development of
children.
Ms. Pooja
Principal
Dear Children
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an
activity, but in doing it.”
Learning is the process of constantly updating in an ever-changing world. The first five
years’ experience the most rapid changes of life and are critical in a child's development.
Children develop rapidly during this time; physically, intellectually, emotionally and
socially. Also, the earliest years of a child’s life are a key to predicting ultimate success in
their school and personal life.
Learning at our school is based on the fundamental principles of life; teaching the children
to be courageous, confident, disciplined, responsible and loyal. Education at our school
provides a foundation for a lifetime of learning and is great fun too.
Teaching at VPS is a two-way process; where the teachers first try and understand each
individual child so as to provide them with the most easy and adaptable techniques and a
conducive ambience for them to learn what is delivered. We believe in teaching by
following the child. We strive to keep our toddlers busy with learning activities. Today the
role of a school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to empower its students
to be lifelong learners. We try to provide the best possible environment for healthy
development of young children by providing a carefully planned and structured
environment in which the child grows and learns in a natural way.
I also take this opportunity to thank the parents of our students for having bestowed their
faith and confidence in us. Your faith in us is our driving force.
I would like to end with the words of Albert Einstein – “Imagination is more important
than knowledge, for while knowledge defines all that we currently know and understand,
imagination points to all we might yet discover and create
the blessings of the goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture. The ritual was graced in
the presence of our Director Principal, Principal, Director Academics Ma’am, HOD’s, and all
the teaching faculties and students.
Be it any cultural event Diwali or Independence Day School of has been celebrating
different festivals with the same fervor. Believers as well as non-believers, all came
together under one roof to celebrate these festivals. On the occasion of starting the new
Academic Session Saraswati Puja is just another attempt by the students and staff to
preserve the Indian culture and to impart a sense of respect towards long-established
traditions. These celebrations ensure that students find a home away from home. Both the
faculty and students joined hands together, with great zeal to make the event a
memorable one also evoking the blessing of the goddess of knowledge to have a successful
academic and carrier growth.
A ‘Mask Party’ was organized by the young students of Primary Wing where children wore
colourful masks and enjoyed their snacks. They danced with their teachers and left the
dancing floor ablaze with the thumping of their tiny feet.
Baisakhi is the festival of joy and enthusiasm. Baisakhi was celebrated with a great zest
and zeal at Victor Public School. Young Victorians dressed themselves in typical folk
attires. Students of Pre-school to 5 th Standard danced to the tunes of bhangra. The school
was decorated with cut-outs of farmers, fulkaris and balloons. The children had a lot of fun
and enjoyed dancing with their teachers and friends. The teachers & students
demonstrated importance of the festival through various activities organized on the
occassion.
Summer camp is an annual feat of the school which is organized during the summer
vacation. Such camps help in the overall development of the children by providing them
various avenues to realize their true potential and enhance their areas of interests.
Different activities were organized in these summer camps which include art and craft,
sports, dance, vocal & instrumental music, theatre, drama, etc. English conversation
classes were the applauded feature this year. A team of teachers really did an appreciable
effort.
Honourable Justice Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma interacted with the students on the topic of
Role of Judiciary in our country and the basic structure of Indian Judiciary system.
Honorable guest had an elaborative session with the students and concluded his lecture
with a quiz. He was really impressed with the output of the students and their response
really left an everlasting impression on the visiting guest of honour.
Delhi Traffic Police organized an interactive workshop on Traffic rules and Signals in the
school. The team laid stress on the safety points one should always keep in mind while
driving on the road. The Traffic Police Officers of the team advised children to follow the
instructions of their elders and not to drive any vehicle before the age of 18.
A thought provoking power point presentation and important newspaper clippings were
shown to the students to improve their awareness about the traffic rules and signals.
Students were also given informative leaflets indicating road signal to spread the message
of safety to their parents and elders.
At Victor Public School, the students are always encouraged to participate in various
events throughout the year. These events create quality learning environment in the
school.
The students delivered a speech on the topics given on the spot. They mesmerized the
audience with their content and expressions.
The students were selected on the basis of parameters like voice modulation, intonation,
content etc.
“Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
Programme. The purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the students
regarding Cleanliness and its benefits. All the council members along with the teachers
A healthy mind lives in a healthy body…….
the school was observing summer vacation, around 90 students participated in the
session. The students were educated on the importance of Yoga. They were explained that
yoga helps in maintaining not only physical and mental health but also a healthy social life.
The students council is one of the most important functional organ of every school. It is
the first stage where the students are exposed to functioning of an organisation for a
common goal. It is the first step for the young leaders to understand their potential and
collective responsibility towards their school.
The Investiture Ceremony of the students council for the academic session 2017-2018
took place with great pomp and dignity in a special ceremony at the school assembly area.
It was conducted with the high degree of earnestness and passion. The programme ended
