The World Boxing Super Series looks set to take boxing by storm, and the North<br />

East fighters will benefit.<br />

A new idea for the sport, it will be the first super series will see two<br />

competitions - one in the super middleweight division and another in the<br />

cruiserweight.<br />

Eight of the best in the world in them weight classes competing in a<br />

knockout-style tournament, which is great news for a sport plagued in recent<br />

years by the best not always fighting the best.<br />

North East boxers have already been chosen to benefit from a spot on<br />

undercards, which should be great for their exposure.<br />

Sunderland?s Isaac Macleod and Durham?s Darren Richardson (boxing under the<br />

surname Surtees) are the benefactors.<br />

Mcleod and Surtees have been granted spots on the September 16 card which<br />

is topped by the Callum Smith-Erik Skoglund WBSS super middlewight quarter<br />

final at the Liverpool Echo Arena.<br />

This should be a positive opportunity for undefeated prospects Macleod and<br />

Richardson, offering the chance ofexposure in step-up fights for both<br />

Isaac was a stand-out amateur who won multiple national titles as well as a<br />

silver at the junior World Championships. He was part of the GB development<br />

squad for a period before deciding to turn pro.
