Dual Officeholding
Opinion: 16-0131A The provisions of
the Dual Officeholding and Dual
Employment Law do not prohibit
the full time Director of Finance and Human Resources
of Lafourche Parish from overseeing and supervising
the Lafourche Parish Department of Finance and the
Lafourche Parish Department of Human Resources.

of the Hammond City Council from holding full time
employment as the manager of the Tangipahoa Parish

City Court of Jeanerette from serving as the full time
Chief of Police of the City of Jeanerette. The provisions

Law do not prohibit the Marshal of the City Court of
Jeanerette from serving as the part time Chief of Police

Municipal Property
Opinion: 17-0061 The Town of Benton must adhere to
the mandates of La. Const. art. VII, Sec. 14 and La. R.S.
33:4712 in the sale of a servitude on immovable Town

Zoning
Opinion: 16-0194 Three votes of the five members of
the Council of the City of Hammond are required to
approve or deny an amendment to the City’s zoning

Telecom Charges
Opinion: 17-0010 The Madison Parish Communications
District is prohibited from expending the telephone
service charge funds or the parish millage tax funds
for the purpose of paying volunteer firemen fees on
a monthly “per call” basis pursuant to the restrictions
of La. R.S. 33:9109.2(A) and La. R.S. 39:704. Opinion
