YOUR BEDROOM SHOULD<br />

BE A SLEEP ONLY ZONE<br />

When tinnitus is bothering you, only<br />

give yourself about 15 minutes to get<br />

to sleep. If you do not fall asleep during<br />

that period of time, then get off your bed<br />

and go into another room. Do not do any<br />

physical activity or anything stressful.<br />

Tiring yourself to sleep might boomerang<br />

back to you and cause you to be even more<br />

awake. Instead, stick with an activity that<br />

will relax you. By leaving the bedroom, you<br />

help make the room a “sleep only” zone.<br />

This should, over time, alleviate much of<br />

the unwanted tossing and turning you can<br />

experience at bed time when you aren’t<br />

tired enough.<br />

You may find that the more you know about<br />

tinnitus, the easier it will be to treat it and<br />

cope with it. There is a plethora of information<br />

regarding tinnitus on the Internet, as well<br />

an understanding of what the causes are<br />

might make it more tolerable for you.<br />
