MOST WANTED AND THE IT LIST THE 2016 GRAND FINAL

HISTORY
IN THE
MAKING
Oh, what a night! On Monday 5 September the worlds
of hair and fashion, salon and session, came together in
perfect unison as Creative HEAD staged the Grand Final
of its Most Wanted and The It List Awards. And trust us,
something extraordinary happened.
Fabulous winners, incredible accomplishments, a wonderful
crowd, jaw-dropping surroundings… the magnificent medieval
Great Hall of London’s Guildhall had never seen the like as we
handed out a record-breaking 20 trophies to the brilliant teams
and incredible individuals of our industry, including two for the
first time to hairdressers from the Republic of Ireland.
But it was the atmosphere, positivity and energy of the evening
that really stood out. Truly, it felt like 600 friends had gathered
together in the same room to have fun, enjoy each other’s
company and to celebrate what everyone was achieving together.
It was powerful, it was emotional, and we loved it.
To everybody who joined us, to our fantastic sponsors, our
amazing finalists and our incredible winners – thank you for
making the 2016 Most Wanted and It List Grand Final so special.
Now, this is for you!
DINING,
MINGLING
by monuments to national heroes, our guests tucked into gourmet
KIRSTEN BASSETT
Electric Hairdressing
THE RISING STAR
One day Kirsten asked boss Mark Woolley if it was okay to enter a
photographic competition. He said yes, would she like to use the Electric
Studio? The answer was no – she had already produced the shoot (and
done the make-up) and pulled an image from her bag – which went on to
win said competition and get herself a front cover and a trip to Tokyo.
This Bassett is winning all sorts!
“I’m still in
absolute shock.
I had such an
incredible night –
I’m honestly over
the moon and
appreciate it
so much!”

“I feel so blessed. It
was my last chance
to win and I’m so
happy I did it!”
ISSEY HYDE
London Hair Hub
THE FASHIONISTA
After a decade in the salon, Issey took the leap to go freelance and
launch her own brand, Hair by Hyde. Life now is a mix of private clients,
photoshoots (often assisting James Brown), Fashion Week shows (on the
teams of Anthony Turner, Duffy, Syd Hayes and Guido) and after a session
hair course with Sam McKnight, she got the chance to shoot with him.

KY WILSON
The Social
THE
ENTREPRENEUR
Ky took to London’s streets with scissors in hand and developed
The Social, going on to hit the road, working at secret gigs, in a black
cab and on a canal barge. Now he has residencies across the UK as well
as a unit in Kendal operating under his brand (he returns monthly) and a
salon in east London, and there’s a beard oil in development. Now that’s
blue sKy thinking!
“I’m absolutely
buzzing. I’ve been
nominated for two
years and been trying
for five, and I really
didn’t expect to win,
so it feels amazing”

“This was the first
time I’ve entered so
to win is amazing.
Sacha Mascolo-
Tarbuck told me to go
for it, so I did, but I
didn’t expect to win”
SOPHIE SPRINGETT
Toni&Guy
THE VISIONARY
Art director at Toni&Guy’s London academy, Sophie is a daily moodboard
builder, starting with fabrics and materials and techniques that can be
translated to hair, such as knitting, sewing, knotting and weaving. Nature
and global architecture also find their place.

JOSHUA GOLDSWORTHY
Goldsworthy’s
THE IT GUY
While Joshua selects ‘hairdresser’ as his title when buying online car
insurance (keeping it real, JG!), he sees himself as “an artist, educator,
performer, mentor, designer, team member and businessman”. He is
the epitome of variety – one day making the TOWIE cast glam, the next
working with Anthony Turner, Nabil Harlow or Gary Gill backstage.
“I’ve been in the
hairdressing
industry for 10 years
and I’ve entered so
many times, so to hear
my name announced
as the winner is
surreal but amazing”

AMY FISH
George Northwood
THE IT GIRL
David Bowie-obsessive Amy spent nine years with Daniel Hersheson
before joining celeb fave George Northwood at his own salon. A senior
creative colourist, she’s worked shows with Luke Hersheson and was part
of John Vial’s “colour dream team”, alongside Nicola Clarke and others at
Charles Jeffrey’s first London Collections: Men show. Oh, and she turned
Amber Le Bon candyfloss pink! We like her style…

A huge congratulations to this year’s It List winners, from all at ghd!

pet sanctuary a mural makeover. Phew!

“I’m overjoyed by the
