ASIAN JASMINE
Trachelospermum Asiaticum
Asiatic Minima Dwarf Jasmine
is a true ground cover that
forms a thick mat and is
more drought and shade tolerant
than most turf grasses. It can
be used as a turf substitute that
does not need to mowed and
will stay green in the winter—just
don’t expect it to withstand a lot
of foot traffic.
Some experts recommend
mowing a jasmine bed in the late
winter as the new growth period
begins. The benefit is a more
uniform height to the planting
and lower susceptibility to
disease due to better air movement
within the canopy. Set your
mower to the highest setting; the
foliage will be mostly removed
but will quickly be replaced by
new growth within a few weeks.
Weeds don’t usually pose a problem
in a mature planting due to its
dense growth, but if weed control is
needed, the use of Roundup® mixed
to 1oz./gal is highly effective with no
adverse reactions to the Jasmine. Do
not treat until after the spring growing
phase.
1 gal: Only $1.55!
