As suddenly as summer
arrived this year, so quickly
have we reached the end
of term three. I would like
to thank all our parents,
learners and teachers for
your commitment and hard
work over the past term.
We were truly blessed
with exceptional results
and achievements in all
areas of school life. I would
especially like to commend
the hours and hours of hard
work put in by our learners
on academics – I would
therefore like to congratulate
Chantal van Rooyen (grade
11) and Kiana Venter (grade
12) on their exceptional
academic results. Both of
them are amongst the Top
20 learners within the Curro
group. Well done! I would
also like to congratulate
Mr Dirk Steenkamp from
our high school, who was
recently appointed as the
Curro Subject specialist for
Tourism within the group. This
appointment pays testimony
to the caliber of teacher
we have at Roodeplaat.

Congratulations to Derik Heyl
and Chantal van Rooyen on
their election as new Head
boy and Head girl of the high
school respectively. We look
forward to your leadership in
the coming months.
The building of the new high
school is now in its final
stages. With the moving of
the front fence the sports
field and athletics track will
be completed. We are also
in negotiations regarding
our primary school’s sport
facilities. As a pilot school,
our rugby/soccer field will be
part of an experiment of a new
fertilizer project to activate
more growth. Our hockey
field is a great concern
and I am trying everything
in my power to have the
surface redone as soon
as possible. The feedback
from our parents regarding
fundraising and the spending
of funds indicated that the
cover for our pavilion should
be a priority. I am grateful to
each parent and learner that
participated in raising funds
through our soap box day.
I would also like to remind
all our parents about the
re-registration process
and contracts that need to
be handed in at school on
or before 20 September.
Thank you to everyone that
has already responded.
Management recently had a
very productive and fruitful
planning weekend a couple
of weeks ago. Exciting plans
were tabled and in months
to come I will give you a
glimpse of what to expect in
2018!
I wish all our families and
teachers well during the
coming holiday. May God
bless you and your loved
ones! Our grade 12 staff
and learners will do final
preparations during the
spring school in the holiday
– good luck, you will reap the
benefits in the final exams.
