GOLF Lady golfers in pyjamas The Cabarlah Golf Club Monday Ladies Social Golf Group celebrated National Pyjama Day by playing golf in their pyjamas. They were raising funds and awareness for The Pyjama Foundation. The foundation supports children in foster care by providing a learning-based mentoring program free of charge. Their aim is to offer the children the opportunity to change the direction of their life through learning, life skills and confidence and to also improve their educational outcome through reading. Volunteers are trained in the "Love of Learning Program" and visit foster children on a weekly basis. The volunteers are known as "Pyjama Angels". They spend time with a child reading, helping with homework, and sometimes just chatting and listening. A "Pyjama Angel" makes a foster child feel special. The golfers had an enjoyable morning on the course, and then enjoyed lunch in the Cabarlah Golf Course Clubhouse. Organiser, Carmel Lyall, a Pyjama Angel for 4 years, was well supported in her endeavour to raise awareness of the Foundation. "Everyone was so generous not only by raising funds, but also donating pyjamas, books, sporting equipment, toys and toiletries which will be shared among the children in our local area who are in foster care. The funds raised go towards training more volunteers because every child in foster care deserves a Pyjama Angel" she said. Carmel thanked everyone who joined in the fun of the day, and to the Cabarlah Golf Club for their support.
