35 The following visualisations illustrate experimenting with how garments could be styled together in order to discover outfits which best communicate the original spirit of the brand as well as employing the contemporary references. STYLING visualisations The first styling experiment uses a denim mini skirt and cropped hoody due to being popular trends within 00’s. Additionally, the look is effective in illustrating the theme of Hollywood Stardom, however the overall look is minimal and lacks a uniqueness and a fashion-forward edge. The styling of this look was heavily inspired by Juicy Couture’s velour tracksuits, the success of Juicy Couture inspired thought on how a similar aesthetic could work in reviving the original Ed Hardy brand. However, the look is very casual and contains a specific look, which risks limiting the audience in which it appeals to.
Browsing eBay I came across this Ed Hardy swimsuit, the garment embodies the height of Hollywood Stardom. However, through creating this visualisation I discovered the swimsuit was extremely low cut and looks too overtly sexual. 36 Modifying the swimsuit using Photoshop I was able to experiment with how it could look if altered into a crop top. The crop top worked effectively in referencing 90s nostalgia and created an overall aesthetically pleasing look. I experimented with trying the top on with tracksuit bottoms but the trousers made the overall look appear too casual and didn’t tap into the theme of Hollywood Stardom effectively. Through further experimentation I paired the crop top with low-rise jeans; the jeans embody the theme of Hollywood Stardom through the dimante embellishments which tap into contemporary references through the current theme of tacky items being worn. Pairing the crop top and jeans with the bright Ed Hardy hoody made the overall look more colourful. This was successful in communicating the Hollywood stardom elements of the brand whilst tapping into current contemporary trends.
