93 Editing nathaniel x juanita Nathaniel and I edited all of the film content together. I sent references that were discussed prior to shooting expressing post-production look. It was important for each of the final videos to have impact, build up and the shock factor all anticipating the idea that ‘Ed is back’. Music was going to be essential in achieving the desired feeling from each film. I looked at all of the film footage for each theme in order to gain an indication of the style of music that would suit each theme. Initially I imagined rock and heavy metal music for the motorcycle theme, however after creating a rough edit I soon discovered the importance of the music having a contemporary feel in order to engage the target audience. Due to knowing the style of each film and having a vision of the edited look, I decided to experiment by creating my own music specifically altered for each video. The music was effective in having the desired style but lacked a professional element and balance between sounds due to my inexperience producing music. I browsed a vast amount of music on the Copyright free section on Soundcloud. Nathaniel and I conducted numerous experiments with the music and footage in order to find the appropriate soundtrack for each film.
94 Each video was edited differently to suit the theme, pace and style of the content. For example the motorcycle rebel culture had a very dark, moody tone and the music contained dramatic synth sounds. As a result I decided to ask Nathaniel to incorporate contemporary glitch effects so the music would be edited on beat and suited the mood. The process of video editing was time consuming, shots had to continuously be re-arranged in order to ensure the films had enough substance to keep audiences interested, whilst ensuring the clothes appeared desirable and the overall content communicated the brands original aesthetic. The longer edit was the most difficult due to incorporating each theme and style into one video. Selecting the correct music and choosing clips that worked inline together were integral.
