“Season of melodious efficiency”
Summer is fast approaching and many brides are putting the finishing
touches on their wedding plans. Summer truly is the official ‘wedding
season’- and why wouldn’t it be? You’re almost always guaranteed great
weather during the day, balmy nights, and an up-beat, exciting atmosphere
throughout. But summer can also pose unanticipated and hard-to-handle threats
to an otherwise perfect wedding, including insects, natural disasters, yearly heat
waves, and even, on the odd occasion, storms.
For your skin, summer means extra expose to the sun, heat and sweat. Sunscreen is
a highly recommended defense against sunburn and skin cancer. Lotions, creams,
ointments, gels, way sticks and spray may guard against such eventualities. These
have glitter and tint, too. The sun’s UV rays can damage your skin all year; Skin
can be exposed to up to 40 percent of the sun’s UV rays. Be sure to take necessary
precautions to keep your skin safe.
As romantic poet P.B Shelley says, “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”
We are also waiting the season of mellow fruitfulness and sweet fragrance.
Mirror lifestyle understands the beauties of summer cruelties. So we change the
lifestyle and rejuvenate & rekindle. Summer Bride special issue embedded with
special rhythm of life with fashion, clothing, accessories along with articles and
special features. Everything is with summer flavored and mixing with bridal
moods. So Mirror Lifestyle Summer Bride Issue with its rich treasure trove will
hopefully satisfy our valued readers at home and abroad.
Till we meet you again happy reading.
Is your make-up
remover safe?
Life seems to get busier every year,
jam-packed with activities like
meetings, seminars, workshops,
parties and also family activities. And
each one requires us to be presentable
at all times, constantly re-applying or
refreshing our make-up.
Skin types must be consideredwhen
applying and removing make-up.If
you have very sensitive skin or
chronic dry eyes, you may notice that
certain make-up removers may cause
a reaction. Alcohol-based removers
can be especially irritating or drying
to the skin. Unconventional makeup
removers aren’t always the answer
either - products such as baby oil can
block pores and may cause breakouts in
acne-prone patients.
“Although quick and easy to use,
some make-up removers contain active
cleansing ingredients which may
remain on the skin unless washed off,”
explained an expert Dermatologist.
“This residue may expose the skin to
chemical ingredients, such as emulsifiers
and surfactants that can dry and irritate
the skin. Some make-up removers
also contain preservatives including
formaldehyde which can be allergenic,
while others are highly fragranced.”
Experts says that using the
right make-up remover is
vital to keeping skin looking
youthful and flawless.
“Going to sleep without removing
makeup can lead to acne breakouts,
accelerate the aging process and make
the skin look dull,” said Girard. “There
are a plethora of cosmetic products that
can often confuse, so if you are not sure
what your skin type is or what product
is best for your skin, use a make-up
removerthat is suitable for all types of
skin.”
If you suffer from specific skin conditions
such as rosacea or eczema, it is especially
important to use a hypoallergenic
fragrance-free make-up remover. Liquid
cleansers work well for individuals with
sensitive skin. And if your skin is more
tolerant, you should be able to use water
soluble make-up remover without any
trouble.
To ensure the least possible risk of
irritation or reaction, wherever possible
choose a make-up remover that
doesn’t contain alcohol, fragrance or
preservatives
According to a recent study, Sensibio
H2O was recognized as the number one
cleanser and makeup remover in the
world, with a bottle of Sensibio H2O
sold every 3 second around the world.
Exceptionally effective at cleansing and
removing make-up, it contains highly
purified water and mild cleansing
agents similar to the skin’s biological
composition. It is also alcohol and
fragrance free with a physiological pH
between 5 and5.5.Sensibio H2O is the
1st and only dermatological micellar
water perfectly compatible with the
skin: its fatty acid esters, the constituent
elements of micelles, are similar to
the phospholipids of the skin cell
membranes and naturally help rebuild
the skin’s hydrolipidic film.
Tips and Tricks:
• Morning or evening, Use a cotton
pad soaked in cleanser to gently remove
makeup
• Gently cleanse andremove makeup
from your eyes and face
• Repeat until the cotton pad shows no
residue
• Remove pore-clogging and eyeirritating
makeup before you even
cleanse your skin •
portal will contain news on national and
International
e-Commerce business, interviews of
renowned e-Commerce personalities of the
country, opinion, latest e-Commerce trends
etc. On this occasion, e-CAB organized
a launching ceremony at its Dhanmondi
office. Two members of e-CAB Advisory
Council- Abdullah H. Kafi, Past Chariman,
Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry
Organization (ASOCIO), and Mustafa
Jabbar, renowned ICT personality and
former President of Bangladesh Computer
Samity (BCS) inaugurated the portal.
Members of e-CAB Executive Committee-
Razib Ahmed, President; Md. Abdul Wahed
Tomal, General Secretary; Mohammad
Abdul Haque, Finance Secretary; Rezwanul
Haque Jami, Director (Government Affairs);
and Asif Ahnaf, Director (Communication)
were present at the ceremony.
The advisors shared their experience with
e-CAB members. They made different
suggestions about making e-CAB News
a reliable source of information on e-
Commerce in Bangladesh.
Mustafa Jabbar said, “ e-CAB undertook
some great initiatives which benefitted
the young entrepreneurs and they joined
e-CAB. The online activities of e-CAB
deserves a lot of praise. I myself regulary
e-CAB news starts its journey
observe their activities. e-CAB blog is a
great resource for young people who want
to learn about e-Commerce and start their
own e-Commerce business in the country.
I am hopeful that e-CAB News will be a
great platform to raise awareness and inspire
young people. It will be a great source of
information on local and internatinal e-
Commerce.
From the beginning, e-CAB team should
strive to maintain quality of the news
give attention to local e-Commerce news
and publish them on a regular basis along
with international news. ”
Abdullah H. Kafi said, “e-CAB and its
member organizations played a big role
in spreading e-Commerce in Bangladesh.
Most of them are young and have limited
experience. They should learn about
different aspects of e-Commerce. I am
hopeful that e-CAB News will become a
source of information for these people.
At the same time, the entrepreneurs
should think about how they can take
their products in the internatioanl market.
In order to prepare them to compete in
the International market, e-CAB should
organize training sessions.”
Among others, Ferdous Hasan Sohag,
Executive Director, members of e-CAB and
Md. Gias Uddin, founder of Bangladesh’s
first e-Commerce website Munsigi.com
| SKIN CARE |
In this tropical vast region summer
heat is a great headache for everyone,
exclusively for tiny girls to women. They
are the blooming flowers in the gardens
of our human society. Thus comes the
question of keeping their beauty skin
properly protective during this season.
Women need to follow the processes
of sun safety practices to prevent skin
damage.
Tips to protect skin from sun
Scorching Summer
Sun and Skin
Safety for Women
• You should apply sunscreen, if you expect to be in the sun more than 20 minutes. Even if
you don’t think you will be in the sun as long period of time, daily routine activities such as
running errands, walking to the store or driving to the Bank, can put your skin for UV (ultra
violate) damage. Choose a broad-spectrum sun screen which will protect the skin from both
UFB and UVA rays.
• Get used to regularly applying sun screen just as you would moisturize. For short term
exposure (and depending on your individual skin care needs), moisturizer with SPF 15 will
do. People often forget about sunlight that comes through office and car windows, as well
as the windows of the homes. Wearing sun screen on a regular basis will actually allow for
some repairs of damaged skin.
• Apply sunscreen to dry 30 minutes before expose to the sun, to provide adequate time to
absorb into the skin. Apply to areas that will be exposed, paying attention to the face, ears,
hands and arms.
• Apply liberally. The general guide line is one ounce (2 table spoons or a short-glassful) to
completely cover the body, but the amount to use will be determined by height and weight.
If one bottle of sun screen lasts you are an entire summer, you are not using enough. Reapply
every 2
mirror 42
| SKIN CARE |
hours- more if you are in intense
sunlight and swimming or
sweating.
• Water proof/ water- resistant sun
screens lose effectiveness after 80
minutes in water. Re-apply before
this time and if you have toweldried.
If your plans involve going
to any outdoor activities, it should
be before 11 am or after 3pm when
sun is less intense.
• Wear light coloured clothing to
deflect rays. Avoid dark colours
like black, which absorbs sunlight.
Also try sun protective clothing
manufactures by SPF protection.
• Wear hats visors and UV-blocking
sunglasses or shield yourself under
umbrella or in shade, especially
on extremely hot days. Make sure
that wide-brimmed hats are really
protecting you from the sun. if you
can see a pattern on your face from
where the sun is shining through
your straw hat, you are not getting
enough.
• Sunscreen is the best way to
protect your skin from the ravages
of the sun. the trick is to use a
sunscreen that gives protection
against both UVA and UVB rays.
In this regard, if you are worried
about or sensitive to certain
ingredients, ask your dermatogist
for recommendations. Choosing
you sunscreen wisely ensure you
are adequately protected.
Effects of sun on
the skin
Sunlight has a profound effect on
the skin causing premature skin
aging, skin cancer and a part of
skin changes. Many skin changes
that were commonly believed to
be due to aging, such as bruising,
are actually a result of prolonged
exposure to UVR or ultra violet
radiation.
The mantras and admonitions come
in daily. To get rid of scorching
summer days there are mainly 5
commandments viz. avoid the sun
as far as possible, wear protective
clothes, wear sun glasses, avoid
artificial tanning and check your
skin a routine basis, especially in
the summer season.
To challenge the
summer heat attack
May be you are in your 20’s or
early 30’s and you think you cannot
possible have gulp skin appears
in summer time. Your skin’s
‘youthfulness’ has less to do with
age than how it has been treated.
If exposed to excessive sun, smoke
and stress, your skin can start
damaging, losing collagen, glow
and elastically. Your summer effect
skin may look dull and ‘blah’.
Earlier “dos” have been cited.
Now, here are few key “don’ts”
to be religiously followed for
protection of summer sun attack:
Don’t ignore your neck and chest,
don’t tan, don’t sporadically take
care of your skin. It is important to
cleanse your face every night not
only to avoid clogged pore, but
also to wash away all the pollution
your skin has been prone to.
Please ensure during the summer
season yourself to protect your
body’s largest organ from the sun.
The high costs of sun damage can
include dermatology treatments,
prescription and surgery. If you
want to protect your skin from
the sun, you must protect and
guard yourself from summer. By
the way you should use sunscreen
protection not only for the summer
season, also year- row because the
sun’s rays can damage your skin
even during the fall and winter
months. As such hang on to your
sunscreen and use it to protect your
face during the cooler months of
the year as well.
Tips on simple
Summer make-up
Every woman wants to
look good irrespective of
everything. Makeup plays an
important role in it. But, as
the temperatures rise and summer
creeps in, makeup can become a
sticky mess. Summer brings with it a
ghastly image of runny foundation,
smudged kajal and clumpy mascara.
And that only seems normal with the
soaring temperatures. What do you
do then, if you’re the kind who can’t
do without your daily fix? We got
the experts to show you the lightest
looks you can opt for.
3
eye catching look
for you
Look 1
Lakmé make-up expert, says:
Use a light moisturiser followed by
a very light compact to keep the skin
matte and fresh.
For the eyes, use a hint of waterproof
kohl and mascara. If you want to
dress up, use winged-tip eyeliner or
colours like green, blue and grey,
apart from the classic black and
brown.
Use only a bit of the cheek tint,
which is great for summer. If you
use too much, it will streak.
Apply a pop of colour on your lips,
directly or using a lip brush. A hint
of gloss just at the centre of the lips
gives a good finish. Using a lip pencil
to fill in a natural colour on the entire
lip along with some pink gloss gives
a subtle yet finished look.
Look 2
Beauty and make-up expert says:
Begin with a tinted SPF moisturiser. A BB
cream is your best choice this season because
it acts as your moisturiser, sunscreen as well as
foundation.
Use eyeshadow in a neutral shade to brighten up
your eyes. You can also use it on the bridge of
the nose and cheeks to highlight your features
for an evening look.
Use a coral blush: matte or slight shimmer for
day and evening both. Use sheer blush to make
your face glow.
Sheer orange gloss or tinted lip balm is a good
choice for summers. Avoid wearing anything
heavy or sticky on the lips.
Choose brown, charcoal and plum pencils for
light yet defined eyes. Add a dash of mascara
(make sure it’s light and non-clumpy).
Look 3
Senior artist says:
Massage your skin with a generous amount of
moisturiser.
Use primer to even out the skin texture and
ensure a better finish for your foundation.
Use a concealer if required to cover any shadows
or discolouration on the skin.
Apply foundation with a brush. Set it with
translucent powder for long-lasting results and
to take away excess shine from the face.
Use a bronzer to get a flush of colour in an
orang-ish-brown colour.
Apply a layer of eyeshadow in toffee and
caramel with groomed brows and add mascara
on the lashes. Use nude, coral or toffee colours
on the lips.
Tricks for Summers:
• To avoid makeup breakdown in summers
it is important to prep your T-zone with a
light antiperspirant product.
• Apply a lightweight primer, and then
apply a lightweight foundation. It’s better
if you opt for a tinted moisturizer with SPF
instead of your regular foundation. Tinted
moisturizers feel much lighter on skin. If
you do not want to spend money on a tinted
moisturizer then here is what you can do.
Just combine a small amount of your liquid
foundation with an equally small amount of
moisturizer. It will thin it out and
provide you with a lighter coat.
• Stay away from concealer; apply
a small amount of foundation to
conceal any spots.
• Avoid using pressed powder in
summers as it can form patches
on skin. If you must use it, use it
sparingly.
• Apply an eye primer and then
use a soft shimmery eye shadow
on your lids. To get that glow
on your lids opt for a coloured
eye gloss. These don’t crease as
quickly as a cream shadow. Do
not opt for cream eye shadow as
they can melt off the face in hot
summer months.
• Apply waterproof or longwear
gel eyeliner in colours like
brown, black and navy. Curl your
lashes and apply a few coats of
waterproof mascara. Or still
better use a smear proof clear
lash gel for a glimmering effect.
• For cheek colour, apply a light
layer of a gel or liquid blush.
These stay longer than powder
blush. Light shade of bronzer on cheekbones and chin
gives you a beautiful suntan.
• For lips try a lipliner to avoid colour from bleeding.
Lips should have a coat of long-wear lip stain with a bit
of shine. Do not overkill your look by using dark colours
on your lips. Soft matte is the most preferable one for
the ladies. It can be a pink shade or soft brown with
sheer gloss. Also, stay away from clear gloss as believe it
or not they can increase your chances of lip burn. Gloss
with a bit of colour is a best bet, since the pigment is a
natural sun block and SPF in it will help further.
• Finish your look with a few sprites of a makeup-setting
spray.
• To hide your body scars try body concealers which are
water-resistant.
Understand your sunscreen:
There are two types of sun block products:
• Physical sun block: The main ingredients in these
products are titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Physical
sun block stick better to the skin than chemical one.
Since they are chemical-free they do not tingle or sting
like chemical ones. You can try Neutrogena Sensitive
Skin UVA/UVB Sun block.
• Chemical sun block: The main ingredient in such sun
block is octyl methoxycinnamate.
Do not move out of your house until your sunscreen has
dried out completely or say is absorbed into your skin.
People who are allergic to sunscreen can opt for oil-free
and fragrance-free product.
That is all for this summer..........................
