So here we are, the final game of what has been a
memorable season for the club.

Three wins against
North Wales Crusaders,
a stunning triumph at
Workington, a 46-22
hammering of Keighley,
a game on live television
in Toronto, four players
gaining international
honours at the Student
World Cup, another four
players on the brink of
selection for the Rugby
League World Cup in
Australia - what a fantastic
achievement for a club
still in its infancy.
This will be Lee
Greenwood’s last game
in charge of the club as
he says goodbye after
three years in charge.
Lee came to the club
promising to cultivate
a local player base and
he can be very proud of
what he’s achieved. His
decision not to go down
the dual-registration route
should be commended as
should his commitment
to showing faith in youth.
The average age of our
starting line-up last
weekend was 23 which
shows the game has a
very promising future in
these parts. On behalf of
everyone at the club I’d
like to thank Lee for his
dedication and wish him
all the best for the future.
Another person who
deserves great credit
is our general manager
Pat Evans. Pat works
incredibly hard to make
sure everything at the
club runs smoothly,
our trip to Toronto is
testament to his fantastic
organisational skills. We all
passed through customs -
twice - with consummate
ease and that was thanks
to the countless hours Pat
spent filling in enough
paperwork to sink a
battleship.
2017 has been our most
successful season to
date. Those incredible
wins against Keighley
and Workington will stay
with me for a long time
and I’m sure anyone that
was present for either of
the games will say the
same. League 1 is a tough
division, for a team as
young and inexperienced
as ours to compete for
a place inside the top
eight was nothing short
of magnificent. Well done
to every single player who
has worn the Golden Fern
this season, you’ve done
yourselves proud.
I’d like to finish by thanking
all of the wonderful people
who have helped the club
throughout the season.
There are far too many
to name, you know who
you are. Your dedication is
humbling, thank you.
